Life and Works of Rizal Activity 1

A. Identify the reasons for the study of the life of Rizal .

 According to the late Senator Jose P. Laurel, who sponsored the said law since Rizal was
the founder of Filipino nationality and the architect of the Filipino nation, there is a need
to know and imbibe the great ideals and principles for which he died.
 The teachings of Jose Rizal has great relevance to the Filipino people especially the
youth in order to rededicate their lives to the ideal of freedom and nationalism, for
which our heroes lived and died. It is also important to pay tribute to him for devoting
his life and works in shaping the Filipino character and to gain an inspiring source of
patriotism through his writings.
 one of the reason why study Rizal’s life even when all he did is write literature. It is not
just a literature , It is the way of his writings that he revealed how cruel and abusive the
Spaniards truly are in their treatment of the Filipino people.
 He also enlightened his fellow countrymen to take up arms and stand up for their right.
It’s because of this that he was imprisoned but that didn’t falter him and inspired him to
continue writing. It is Rizal who uplifted his generation and emphasized that the youth is
the hope of our nation.
B. how would reading Rizal's novels impart patriotism .

 It's that patriotism that empowers an individual to put his country and fellowmen first
before oneself in everything that he does.
 The patriotism in the Rizals novels is not just patriotism by word of mouth and political
correctness. It is not patriotism practiced by simple activism. But , it is patriotism taken
for what it really is. It's the patriotism that empowers a man to place his country and
fellow men first in All that he does. It is patriotism that empowers a person to think not
of what is good for himself for now, but of what is good for the country for that moment
and for the days to come. These things may not be mentioned literally in the Republic
Act, but all of these things can be found in Rizal's novel writings.

C. Do you agree with the Rizal Law ? Why or why not?

I agree with the Rizal Law , it is because as A youth , A student we can take a lot from
Rizal’s life, like being aware of what goes on in our country and not just accept the idly
injustice we receive in our country.It is authorized by the law that Rizal's life should
taught in schools or universities to students during formative and decisive years , This
aims to develop within our Moral Character , Personal Discipline and Civic Conscience .
