Emma Watson
Emma Watson
She has
gained recognition for her roles in blockbusters and independent films, as well as her
women's rights work. Watson has been ranked among the world's highest-paid actresses
by Forbes and Vanity Fair, and was named one of the 100 most influential |ˌɪnflʊ
ˈenʃ(ə)l| people in the world by Time magazine in 2015 (твенти-фифтинс).
Emma Watson was born on April 15, 1990 in the suburbs of Paris in the family of
English lawyers Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson. When the girl was five years old,
her parents divorced, and together with her mother and younger brother Alex (Alex),
Emma moved to Oxford.
Already at the age of 6, Emma Watson firmly decided that she would become an
actress. She played on the stage of the school theatre in the productions of "Arthur |
ˈɑːθə|: The Young Years" and "The Happy Prince".
When Watson was nine, the head of the drama |ˈdrɑːmə| club from her school
invited her to take part in the casting for the role of Hermione in the movie "Harry Potter
and the Sorcerer's Stone." The aspiring actress won. Since then, her whole life has been
inextricably linked with Harry Potter. Watson appeared in all eight Harry Potter films
from 2001 to 2011, earning worldwide fame, critical accolades, and around $60 million.
Later in an interview, she admitted: "If I knew what scale the stories about the
wizards from Hogwarts would take, I would never agree to participate in this - I would
just be afraid."
Filming in the Harry Potter films brought Emma not only huge popularity and a
large number of awards, but also income of over ten million pounds. This money,
according to the actress, is enough to never work again. However, Emma, who at one
time graduated from the Hidington School for Girls, as well as the summer acting classes
at the RADA Academy in London (2008), always wanted to develop. In May 2014, she
received her bachelor's degree from Brown University (USA).
Favourite subjects studied at school are history, English and art, and the actress has
a dislike for mathematics and geography.
Emma's athletic skills include tennis, field hockey, baseball and netball. The actress
has no less interest in the art of dancing; her favourite styles are Modern and break dance.
“Is there life after Hermione?” - wondered many fans of the actress after the
premiere of the second part of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, which was
released in 2011, emotionally summing up the epic about the adventures of young
wizards. The answer is yes, there definitely is. On the slide you can see only a few films
from Emma's big filmography.
But why did I choose Emma Watson for my presentation? What's so special about
her?
When we hear her name, we all immediately think of little Hermione from Harry
Potter. But now this little girl is a UN Goodwill Ambassador and a women's rights
activist. Here you can joke about feminists as much as you want. But the existence of the
problem of gender inequality is recognized by the governments of many countries and
international organizations. And I am glad that people like Emma Watson are paying
attention to this issue.
Emma launched the HeForShe campaign against gender inequality. The goal of the
movement is to attract men and boys to act as advocates and champions of gender
equality. Emma Watson in her work also pays great attention to the problem of sexual
violence and harassment.
The actress has been dealing with the problem of girls' education in third world
countries for several years. Emma regularly travels to Bangladesh and Zambia for good
purposes. In addition, she actively supports various charitable organizations and
participates in social projects.
