Summary of the tricks
1- Quotation Marks “search word”
Use it to search for the exact same words you wrote.
“sars cure”
“social engineering in schools”

2- Filetype
Restrict results to those of a certain filetype.
E.g., PDF, DOCX, TXT, PPT, etc.

3- OR
Search for X or Y. This will return results related to X or
Y, or both.
lions OR dogs

4- And
Search for X and Y. This will return only results related to
both X and Y. Note: It doesn’t really make much difference
for regular searches, as Google defaults to “AND” anyway.
But it’s very useful when paired with other operators.

5- Site
Limit results to those from a specific website or specific
domain such as gov,edu,org,com.

6- Related
Find sites like a certain site

related:goodreads.com

7- Cache
Give you a snapshot of a site in the past like an older
copy of the site and show you how it looked before.

8- Define
Know the definition of a word.

define: Procrastination

9- intitle
Find pages with a certain word (or words) in the title.

intitle:sars cure
10- allintitle
Similar to “intitle,” but only results containing all of the
specified words in the title tag will be returned.

11- inurl
Find pages with a certain word (or words) in the URL.

inurl:sars cure

12- allinurl
Similar to “inurl,” but only results containing all of the
specified words in the URL will be returned.

13- intext
Find pages containing a certain word (or words)
somewhere in the content.

intext:sars cure

14- allintex
Similar to “intext,” but only results containing all of the
specified words somewhere on the page will be returned.

15- Hyphen -
Exclude a term or phrase.

War -wikipedia

16- Asterisk *
Acts as a wildcard and will match any word or phrase and
shows you what comes with a word mostly at top search.
