What Is Proper Nutrition and A Well-Balanced Diet?

Proper nutrition involves eating a variety of foods from the five food groups each day, including two servings of fruit and five servings of vegetables, and only occasionally eating sugary, fatty, or salty foods in small amounts. Good nutrition reduces the risk of diseases and improves well-being, ability to fight illness, and energy levels. Poor nutritional habits include poor meal planning, too many processed foods, too much added sugar, and mindless or solitary eating. Poor nutrition can impair health and well-being by contributing to stress, tiredness, and risk of illness over time. Improving nutrition involves promoting healthy diets, supplementing micronutrients, preventing adolescent pregnancy, and promoting hygiene, physical activity, and disease prevention
