The Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) has grown and continues to be one of the

largest and busiest community service delivery agencies in Prince George. Our clientele of Indigenous
and non-Indigenous peoples have supported the Centre's program offerings for the last 50 years. The
PGNFC provides culturally appropriate programming to meet the community's unique and diverse

Support Worker (Part-Time)


Aboriginal Child & Youth Wellness Program
You are a positive role model for youth, and enjoy travel and nature.
You work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, offering support for emotional, mental, physical and
spiritual health and facilitate access to services to Indigenous children, youth and families from Tsay
Keh Dene. You are based in Prince George with monthly travel to Tsay Keh Dene. You provide crisis
intervention, referral and advocacy, individual outreach counselling, facilitating cultural connections,
group facilitation, case management and other supportive services. You will develop and deliver
culturally relevant, prevention, wellness and risk reduction activities to children and youth, including
advocacy, individual counselling, workshops, groups and camps, and provide liaison, consultative and
education services to other service providers and parents on behalf of Indigenous clients. Our team
provides holistic services to primarily Indigenous people, participates in local cultural and healing
practices, and works from an Indigenous model of wellness.

Qualifications include:

 BSW, BA (Psychology, Social Work or Child and Youth Care), or comparable degree.
 Two years’ experience in delivering prevention, early intervention or risk reduction programs to
Indigenous children, youth, and their families.
 Experience in counselling, crisis intervention and group facilitation.
 Familiarity with Indigenous teachings and practices.
 Ability to work independently and as a team member.
 Ability to build relationships with the professional community.
 Oral, written communication and computer literacy skills.
 Successfully complete Criminal Record Clearances.
