INDONESIA[ PASSIVE VOICE ]


PASSIVE VOICE

Passive voice atau kalimat pasif  merupakan lawan kata atau kebalikan dari Active


sentence atau kalimat aktif. Untuk merubah dari kalimat aktif ke pasif tidak sembarangan
kata kerja dapat digunakan. Hanya kata kerja transitif saja, untuk kata kerja intransitif tidak
dapat digunakan.  Materi Passive voice ini dibahas di Kelas 9. Berikut ini kita akan discussi
Passive voice dalam Simple Present, present continuous, past
tense, PresentPerfect dan Modal auxiliaries.

1. Passive voice in Simple Present


Pattern: Passive: Subject + (am, is, are) + V3(Past Participle)
Contoh:
       ACTIVE : Mother eats an apple everyday./ Ibu makan satu apel setiap hari.

Passive :An apple is eaten by mother. / Sebuah apel dimakan oleh Ibu setiap hari

         ACTIVE :They always feed the cats / Mereka selalu memberi makan kucing2 itu
PASSIVE:The cats are always fed by them/ Kucing2 itu selalu diberi makan oleh
mereka

2. Passive voice in Present Continuous


Pattern: Passive : Subject + (am, is, are) being + V3
Contoh:
       ACTIVE : We are cutting the trees now./ Kami sedang memotong pohon sekarang.

PASSIVE:The trees are being cut by us now./ Pohon2 sedang dipotong oleh kita.

        ACTIVE ; Father is reading a newspaper at the moment./ Ayah sedang membaca
sebuah koran
PASSIVE :A newspaper is being read by father at the moment./ Sebuah koran sedang
dibaca oleh Bapak sekarang.

3. Passive Voice in Past tense


Pattern: PASSIVE: Subject+ (was/were) + V3
Contoh:
        ACTIVE : He played football yesterday./ Dia bermain bola kemarin.

PASSIVE : Football was played by him yesterday./ Bola dimainkan oleh dia kemarin.
        ACTIVE : She cooked two plates of rice last night./ Dia memasak dua pirin nasi tadi
malam.
PASSIVE : Two plates of rice were cooked by her last night./ Dua piring nasi telah
dimasak oleh dia tadi malam.

4. Passive voice in Present Perfect


Pattern: PASSIVE :Subject + has/have + been + V3
Contoh:
       ACTIVE :  I have written a letter/ saya sudah menulis sebuah surat.

PASSIVE: A letter has been written by me./ Sebuah surat sudah ditulis oleh saya
        

5. Modal Auxiliaries : Can, will, must / modals


Pattern: PASSIVE : Subject + Can/will/must + be + V3
Contoh:
        ACTIVE :Unce and Aunt will visit Grandma

PASSIVE :Grandma will be visited by Uncle and Aunt./ Nenek akan dikunungi oleh
Paman dan Bibi

         ACTIVE :The students must obey the school rules./ Para siswa harus mematuhi
peraturan sekolah.
PASSIVE :The school rules must be obeyed by the students./Peraturan sekolah harus
dipatuhi oleh para siswa.
