2.

0 Scope of the Works

2.1 General Description of the Works

2.1.1 The following generally describes the Works to be carried out under the Trade Contract and
draws attention to certain associated items that are to be completed. It is not intended to limit
or exclude items required by the Trade Contract Documents.

2.1.2 The Scope of Works to be executed under the Trade Contract includes the preliminaries and
organization, design, co-ordination, engineering, shop and as built drawings, manufacture
and delivery to Site of equipment, materials and plant, labour, unloading and storage on or
off Site as necessary, taking from storage, hoisting into position, setting out to work,
assembly, fixing, installation, protection from strikes/scratches and dust including rectification
of any and all snagging items until project practical completion, daily general site tidy up and
everything necessary to undertake the complete installation.

2.1.3 The Trade Contractor shall be responsible in full for the execution of the Block work Package
to the Mall, Car park and Hotel Building.

2.1.4 The Works shall generally include the installation of Block work, inclusive of all mortars,
adhesives, anchors, wall ties, reinforcement, concrete lintels, expansion and deflection joints.

2.2 Detailed Scope of Works

2.2.1 The Trade Contract Agreement will consist of, but not be limited to the following;

2.2.1.1 The following generally describes the Works to be carried out under the Trade
Contract and draws attention to certain associated items that are to be completed
along with the building. It is not intended to limit or exclude items required by the Trade
Contract Documents.

2.2.1.1.1 Surveying and setting out of the Works. This will include pre and post installation survey
checks on all work elements for alignment, vertical alignment and location and should be
within the required tolerances as per Specification. All setting out will be from grid-lines
and datumn lines supplied at all levels by the Construction Manager.

2.2.1.1.2 Installation of lightweight Gobustone block work to all areas as shown in the trade contract
Drawings. Inclusive of all seismic columns, beams, lintels and wind-posts including
required tying wires, rebar spacing, concrete formwork and associated sundry items as
depicted in the structural and architectural Drawings and Specifications. The trade
contractor is to make allowance for working in conjunction with the following trade
packages.

2.2.1.1.2.4 Insulation and Epoxy Screeding

2.2.1.1.2.8 Façade Lighting
2.2.1.1.2.9 Internal Fit Out
2.2.1.1.2.10 Scaffolding
2.2.1.1.2.11 Fire Stopping
2.2.1.1.2.12 Hard and Soft Landscaping

2.2.1.1.3 Installation of Gobustone Blockwork inclusive of all construction, expansion, deflection


joints, fixings and accessories as per original equipment manufacturer’s recommendation.

2.2.1.1.4 Supply and install of all mechanical, chemical anchoring systems inclusive of but not
limited to frame ties, wall ties, vertical and horizontal head restraints, mesh reinforcement
as depicted in the Structural and Architectural Drawings and Specifications.

2.2.1.1.5 Supply and install of all formworks associated for forming of seismic columns, beams,
wind-posts and lintels.

2.2.1.1.6 Installation of client supplied reinforcement steel and concrete.

2.2.1.1.7 Installation of Rockwool or similar expansion joint materials as depicted in the


Architectural and Structural Drawings and Specifications.

2.2.1.1.8 Supply and installation of all damp proof membranes, damp proof courses, trays, cavity
barriers as depicted in the architectural and structural Drawings and Specifications.

2.2.1.1.9 Forming of structural openings inclusive of external windows, doors, MEP risers, louvre’s,
and internal doors.

2.2.1.1.10 Forming of builders work openings in relationship to MEP requirements through the
blockwork, inclusive of lintels and the likes.

2.2.1.1.11 The Trade Contractor will be responsible for all drilling and chemical anchoring of rebar
in relationship to installation of seismic details and wind-posts.

2.2.1.1.12 Supply, install, maintain and dismantling of all internal access scaffolds required to carry
out the works. Inclusive of all access ladders

2.2.1.1.13 The Trade Contractor will supply and maintain all small tools, power leads and plant
required to safely carry out their works.

2.2.1.1.14 The Client will supply the required concrete pumps for the Works.

2.2.1.1.15 The Trade Contractor will be responsible for transporting all materials from the storage
area to the workface.

2.2.1.1.16 The Trade Contractor will be responsible for the removal of all debris from the workface
to the designated waste transfer area as allocated by the Construction Manager.

2.2.1.1.17 The Trade Contractor will supply, maintain all task lighting required to execute the works.

2.2.1.1.18 The Construction Manager will provide, erect, maintain, adjust, and dismantle external
access scaffolds to the external perimeter of the structures.

2.2.1.1.19 The Trade Contractor is to provide suitably qualified operatives, including banksmen,
slinger/signalers to cover the full working hours of the site to provide cover for both day
and night shifts.
2.2.1.1.20 Additional mobile cranes and forklift if required for the Works will be provided by the Trade
Contractor. This will include any maintenance, inspection and operational requirements.

2.2.1.1.21 All material distribution including rebar and concrete to and on site is to be the
responsibility in full of the Trade Contractor.

2.2.1.1.22 The Trade Contractor will supply and install cast-in elements to the blockwork structure
as shown on the relevant Drawings as required.

2.2.1.1.23 The Trade Contractor will review and co-ordinate all Structural, Architectural and builders
work Drawings to ensure that all cast-in elements are set out correctly.

2.2.1.1.24 The Trade Contractor is not to exceed 5% (Five Percent) wastage on all client supply
materials with the exception of reinforcement which is 7% (Seven Percent). Any wastage
over the stated percentages will be charged to the Trade Contractor at cost plus 15%.
The Client reserves the right to offset these charges against valuations made on the
Works.
2.2.2

2.2.3 General

2.2.3.1 Provide supervision and co-ordination staff for the works.


2.2.3.2 Prepare and issue shop drawings and details in accordance with the design and
specifications.
2.2.3.3 Prepare and issue material and sample submissions including details of any proposed
alternatives.
2.2.3.4 Prepare and issue method statements, required calculations and Quality Assurance /
Quality Control (QA/QC) in regard to design intent and quality.
2.2.3.5 Issue manufacturers certificates and independent tests.
2.2.3.6 Perform a dimensional survey check against the site grid and levels, prior to
commencing works.
2.2.3.7 All temporary works required to allow completion of the works.
2.2.3.8 All builders work requirements.
2.2.3.9 The Trade Contractor is to allow for all necessary revisits associated with the
completion of interfaces with other Trade Contractors work.
2.2.3.10 General and progressive cleaning as per site rules.
2.2.3.11 Co-ordinate all works with interfacing Trade Contractors.
2.2.3.12 Surveying and setting out of the Works. This will include pre and post
installation survey checks on all work elements for alignment, vertical alignment and
location and should be within the required tolerances as per Specification. All setting
out will be from grid-lines and datum’s supplied at all levels by the Construction
Manager.
2.2.3.13 Issue as built drawings as required by the Contract Documents.
2.2.3.14 The Trade Contractor is to allow for protection of their works until the works
are handed over to the Construction Manager and/or following Trade Contractors.
2.2.3.15 The extent of the areas included in the Trade Contract is shown on the
demarcation drawings included in the Drawings and Specifications sections of this
Trade Contract.
2.2.3.16 The Trade Contractor will allow for full time approved supervisors for the
training, monitoring and supervision of their operatives and works.
2.2.3.17 The Trade contractor will apply extra diligence in the protection and cleaning
of their works and adjacent interfacing works at all times until practical completion and
handover.
2.2.3.18 The Trade Contractor will ensure that all inclement weather conditions are fully
covered and prepared for. Any claim based on delays caused by inclement weather
conditions shall not be entertained.
2.2.3.19 The Trade Contractor will supply and maintain all small tools, power leads and
plant required to safely carry out their works.
2.2.3.20 The Trade Contractor will be responsible for transporting all materials from the
storage area to the workface.
2.2.3.21 The Trade Contractor will supply, maintain all task lighting required to execute
the works.
2.2.3.22 The Trade Contractor is to provide suitably qualified operatives, to cover the
full working hours of the site including providing cover for both day and night shifts.
2.2.3.23 The Trade Contractor is to allow for all costs in connection with the
accommodation and subsistence of their staff and labour required for the Works.
2.2.3.24 Mobile cranes and Forklifts if required for the Works will be provided by the
Trade Contractor. This will include any maintenance, inspection and operational
requirement.
