DLL Frequency Distribution Table

The document provides instructions for teaching students how to organize data into a frequency distribution table. It includes objectives, content on frequency distribution tables, procedures for a lesson on the topic, and examples and evaluation questions to practice making frequency tables from sets of data on temperatures, weights, and ages. The goal is for 75% of students to be able to organize data into a frequency distribution table by the end of the lesson.

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses and
importance of Statistics, data collection/gathering and the
different forms of data representation, measures of central
tendency, measures of variability, and probability.

B. Performance Standard The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically and
compute accurately measures of central tendency and variability
and apply these appropriately in data analysis and interpretation
in different fields.

C. Learning Competencies At the end of the lesson 75% of the student should be able to
organize data in a frequency distribution table.

IV. PROCEDURES

A. Reviewing Previous Lesson

Questions: What are the 4 basic steps in conducting research? Give one basic step and
explain how to do each step.
B. Establishing Purpose of the Lesson

Questions: Since we already know how to collect data by gathering information. For
instance, we’re going to ask the 12 employees from the personnel department about their
ages. Their ages are 23, 25, 21, 35, 29, 30, 25, 22, 21, 24, 26, 28. Can we arrange the ages
of the employee in easiest way?

C. Discussing New Concept and Practicing the New Skill

Ages of 12 Employees

23, 25, 21, 35, 29, 30, 25, 22, 21, 24, 26, 28
Array is an arrangement of data according to size or magnitude. It is obtained by
simply listing the values in either ascending order or descending order.
Ascending Order

21, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 35

Descending Order

35, 30, 29, 28, 26, 25, 25, 24, 23, 22, 21, 21
Frequency Distribution Table is a table that displays the frequency of various
outcomes in a sample. Each entry in the table contains the frequency or count of the
occurrences of values within a particular group or interval, and in this way,
the table summarizes the distribution of values in the sample.

CRITERIA TALLY FREQUENCY FREQUENCY

D. Applications
If we’re going to asked 10 employees in a certain agency about their ages, how
can we tally their ages and to know the frequency of their ages?
a. Construct a frequency table.
b. What is the common age of the employees?
Ages of 10 employees

E. Generalization
 What is frequency distribution table?
 How do we construct a frequency distribution table?

F. Evaluation
Answer the following.
1. The followimg data shows the average daily temperature rounded to the nearest
degree for the month of April in Metro Manila.
32 33 31 35 36 37 35 34 33 35
37 34 32 34 35 37 36 35 33 33
35 34 32 31 31 32 36 34 34 33

a. Construct a frequency table for the above data.

b. On how many days was the highest temperature recorded?

G. Additional Activities
Answer the following.
1. The weights of the 40 students are shown below. (Rounded to the nearest pounds)

95 98 91 95 95 98 92 92 96 97
92 94 93 97 97 97 91 95 98 96
94 95 93 91 94 95 90 96 90 93
95 94 98 92 94 95 93 91 90 94

a. Construct a frequency table to show the data.

b. How many students are below 95 pounds?
c. How many students have the heaviest weight?

H. Additional Activities
Answer the following.
1. The ages of 20 Grade 7 students.

10 10 12 11 10 11 13 12 12 12
13 11 10 10 12 11 11 13 12 11

a. Construct a frequency table for the above data.

b. What is the age of the oldest student? youngest?
c. How many Grade 7 students are 11 years old?

V. REFLECTION

A. No. of learners who earned 75% in the evaluation.
