Water Pumps in Rajasthan


1. Proposal:
Ø Supply, installation, commissioning, operational maintenance of grid-
connected solar water pumps across the Indian state of Rajasthan
Ø Number of systems/units: 30,00,000 Solar water pumps

2. Objective:˙
Ø To make Rajasthan as a role model by solarizing entire agricultural
water pump sets, make in Indian model with Israel technology and
investment.
Ø To generate additional revenue from surplus (generated) power during
agricultural (crop holiday) off-season period

3. Cost (Farmer/Govt/Developer):
Ø Cost of the project: US$5-$10 Billion
Ø Cost borne by beneficiary/farmer: Nil
Ø Cost borne by Govt. of Rajasthan: Nil
Ø Cost borne by developer consortium: US$10 Billion as total budget.

4. Implementation:
Ø Developer consortium (Symba-Maz- APIC-Tata-Feedback-) will
implement (supply, installation, commission and handover) in 5 years
from the effective date in phased manner
Ø Developer consortium (Symba-Maz- APIC-Tata-Feedback-) will
maintain these installed solar water pumping systems for a period of 15
years from the installation date

5. Technology:
Ø Solar water pumping systems are backed by Israeli technology,
manufactured in India (supporting GoI’s Make in India initiative)
Ø Centralised monitoring through IoT-dashboard mechanism

6. Revenue:
Ø Additional power generated in the off crop season shall be given to
Government. Approximately 30,000 Cr. In 15 years.
7. (Symba -Maz +APIC consortium) shall bring project loan of US$10
Billion and complete the project in 5 years and run for another 10 years
maintenance with no cost to farmer .
8. Advantages to farmer:
Ø No conventional grid electricity required
Ø Long operating life
Ø Highly reliable and durable
Ø Easy to operate and maintain (can be operated from basic phone)
Ø Eco-friendly
Ø No fuel cost

9. Advantages to Govt:
10. Govt of Rajasthan shall arrange revolving Bank Guarantee for
US$ 1.5 Billion and attach the subsidized power money spending on
account of farmers free power supply scheme to loan account for 15
years. Government need not spend any additional money for this
project.
11. Huge employment can be given to local people and farmers need
not spend any money for pumps repairs and maintenance.
12. Impact:
Ø No environmental impact, in fact zero carbon footprint
Ø Around 5 – 10% (case to case basis) of bore wells to be revitalized,
budgetary allocations for the same will be borne by the developer
consortium as part of CSR
