LEARNING ACTIVITIES # 6

Directions: Please answer the questions below with minimum of 5 sentences only. Refer to the
module for your answer. Thank you!

1. Name the five major tourism supply components. Explain each and give examples.
Answer:
Natural Resources - The natural resources of a destination area provide an excellent asset to sell
to tourists. The appeal can be increased if the area has a "comfortable" climate. The greater the
variety and uniqueness of the scenery, the more appealing it is.
Example: Tall in the Philippines
Geneva in Switzerland
Pagsanjan falls
Infrastructure- refers to all of a region's subterranean and surface development construction,
which includes water systems, communication networks, healthcare facilities, transportation
terminals, power sources, sewage/drainage areas, streets/highways, and security systems.
Examples: Bridges, roads, airports, rail transport
Superstructure – the above ground facility services such as airport buildings, passenger traffic
terminals, hotels, motels, resorts, restaurants, shopping centers, places of entertainment,
museums, stores, and similar structures
Example: is the lobby and floors in a high rise building.
Transportation-Tourism, freight, and resource industries such as forestry and
mining sometimes compete for highways, waterways, and airways.
Example motor vehicles, trailers, aerospace products and parts, railroad rolling stock, and ships
and boats.
Hospitality resources- refer to the general feeling of being welcomed that the visitors receive
while visiting a destination area. It is the way that tourist services are delivered. By service
providers, as well as the general feeling of warmth from the local population. Tourists will have a
more enjoyable vacation if they feel welcomed by the host population and will certainly feel
awkward and unhappy if they fell rejected.

Example: is making the bed every morning for someone staying at your house. Cordial
and generous reception of or disposition toward guests.
2. Define hospitality resources. How can they be improved?
Answer:
The general feeling of welcome that tourists perceive when visiting a destination region is
referred to as hospitality resources. It is the manner in which service providers give tourist
services, as well as the general sensation of friendliness from the local populace. Improvements
should be made to the hospitality resources. It might be enhanced by educating tourism
employees to be more welcoming and fostering favorable public attitudes toward tourism and
tourists.

3. Describe the different ways of classifying hotels.

Answer:
Hotels can be classified in a variety of ways. One method is by location, such as city center,
suburban, airport, highway, and resorts. Another approach is to categorize guests based on their
category, such as business, conference, or resort. A more useful classification is one based on
price, such as economy or budget, standard or midscale, first-class, or deluxe.
