Part I: Job Search Strategy

Job search strategy refers to a plan that has various steps that assists somebody to be able

to get his/her dream Job. It assists someone to get a Job offer whose Job description matches

with the skills and experience that he/she has. This paper enables one to apply the Job searching

techniques to be able to get a human resource Job in the engineering sector. The paper targets to

give the objectives and chances that will propel a Job seeker to not only achieve the desired

position but get his/ her rightful position. In process of looking for Jobs having human resource

skills and Knowledge one can easily get a Job in the human resource department. The key target

and goal where someone looks for a Job in the human resource department is to get a suitable

position of a human resource manager in an organization and then explore the techniques and

skills that have been learned during the period of study. The increased growth in the engineering

department has resulted to increase in vacant posts in the HR department.

In it important to note that more than 80% of the engineering sector posts are filled in

without any broad advertisement from the company. This resulted to the unemployment of

persons due to lack of openness and transparency in the field. It made it hard for persons who

look for Jobs to have a job based on competency, skills and experience. Majority of the

companies shy away from expenses related to making adverts globally and therefore rely on

referrals. Additionally, majority of the employers consider referrals to be more trustable since the

person who has referred them knows them very well. Therefore this process is more efficient and

effective to majority of the companies in the sector. Thus considering this dynamics in the

sector, one needs to have a proper formula and strategy to allow one to look for Jobs. For this

reason, one is supposed chat different methods which will allow me get a position quickly and

faster.

Job searching Methods; there are various methods that can be used to apply for Jobs.

This ranges methods range from modern websites and search engines to the past print media and

magazines. The Job search engines enables one to search and even subscribe to Job websites so

as to see and receive Job alerts on available vacancies. Jobs sites give one rough idea on reading

the Job description and relating it to one’s academic capabilities and achievements. These sites

describe the Job requirements from the employers as well as the experience needed by the

employer when one needs to secure the required position (Cascio, 2015). Apart from this, they

provide the method in which the Job can be applied either through contacting the HR manager

through email or application using a hard copy. Apart from these, they help Jobs seekers to view

all the available vacancies globally.

The second Job application strategy is through visiting the website of the employer.

Majority of the employer’s websites has a career segment where a potential employee can click

and confirm whether vacancies are available or not. In case one sees that there is a vacancy then

one can apply through the website. Someone might be required to both fill in some of the biodata

on the inbuilt systems and then upload the data and the resume or be provided with an email

address where to apply the Job. The employer is usually left with the discretion to make a

decision as to whether one meets the desired criteria stated to enable him/her perform the

functions of a human resource manager. Additionally, it is important to ensure that one has very

strong social networking sites like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.

Furthermore, networking can be done through physical networking with friends and

influential people in the corporate world who can easily have information on available vacancies

in their organizations. Additionally, someone might consider looking at the print media through

reading newspapers to get vacancies through magazine adverts and then link up with engineering

organizations. Journals and periodicals provide several Job opportunities that are available in

several parts of the globe and list different companies that are hiring on a daily basis.

(Cascio,2015).

Other effective method applied is through moving from one company to the next asking

whether they have Job openings for an engineer. This is effective since one is able to get an

immediate feedback. The employer can easily develop and interest since he/she has a clear

picture of the person is likely to hire. The face to face conversation assists to boost the

employer’s confidence and thus create a rapport. Therefore this can improve the chances of

working with the employer. All this is promoted as a result of the engineering sector being wide

and therefore require more human resource specialists to assist in recruiting the best talents from

the market.

On the other hand, some companies sub contract the whole hiring process to agencies or

human resource consultants. These are people who are specialized in the hiring procedure and

recruit and advertise on behalf of the company. The consultants employ the Job hunting methods

to ensure that they recruit the best candidates are recruited to fill the vacant positions. Therefore

one can search Jobs through these agencies.

Another strategy is the use of common calling process where one emails and calls

engineering companies through their reception to ask whether their organizations have vacant

positions. This was important because it could allow one to make it known to the organization

that there is someone who has certain skills which if needed they can always conduct him/her.

Therefore one needs to have a bunch of emails and resumes for every potential company in order

to plan to conduct them in the future and ask for potential vacancies.

The Current Growth in the Human Resource Engineering services Sector

In the past the human resource function of an engineering organization faced various

challenge. However, presently it is making a critical growth to ensure that every citizen is

providing with the best possible services. The engineering departments available have made

huge progress in the field of digital transformation towards service delivery. The progress is

anticipated to grow every day to enhance easy access to information and service delivery in the

field of engineering. The Human resource department is experiencing radical transformation on a

day to day basis, shifting from the analogue to digital modes of data storage to extraction insights

that are capable of being monetized. Human resources have been ensuring that they support

opportunities such as making sure that they support chances like population management in the

engineering department as well as relative value-based services. Even though the growth in the

engineering field is facing serious challenges in the digitalization, there is a lot of threat posed by

breach of cyber security rules and regulations (Villar et al., 2000).

Because of the world labor market growth and over supply of unemployed

population, the process of recruitment has also rigorously grown because of the increased

complexity involved in the recruitment process. Majority of organizations have employed

artificial intelligence in their primary methods or recruitment process. The growth in the

engineering sector has created numerous human resource opportunities. Because of the increased

population human resources experience various chronic diseases which might affect their

productivity. The engineering industry has not been left behind since it focuses on the change

from the archaic methods to the world of innovation and creativity. Therefore the future of world

engineering is likely to be based on technological innovation. It provides measures to

stakeholders to practice and purpose in the creation of robust future foundation in the field of

engineering.

The increased need for human resources in the engineering institutions has been triggered

by the implementation of remunerations systems that are based on performance which enables

investors to get value for their money. The employment of technology in client recruitment

process has caused increased company financial. Government is also playing key role in the

growth of human resource sector in the engineering sector through the improvement terms of

payment and therefore saving interns in the engineering sectors. There are good finances that

have been put aside to ensure that the institutions operations are successful. Further, the

government has hired qualified engineers with experience to ensure that engineering service

delivery is top notch high (Villar et al., 2000). Additional to the growth, the state has come up

with price control policies on engineering equipment and devices to ensure that they are sold at

standardized and affordable prices. This has greatly resulted to an increased engineering service.

It is important to note that in the field of engineering, clients have become very active

participants. They have a major duty to request for transparency, access and convenience in the

service and make service easily accessible to them. Therefore it is the culture of each person in

the field of engineering to ensure that the quality of construction services and client interaction,

hence promoting efficiency and growth in their place of work. Another measure of quality that

resulted to an improved value for human resource department in the engineering department is

meeting the expectation of the clients as well as needs through ensuring that there is safety and

ensuring that there is engagement in the issues that had impact on their engineering. There has

been the introduction of systems that influence access to clients while coordinating with other

engineering organizations that work towards ensuring their issues are addressed (Villar et al.,

2000).

Besides, engineering services institutions have been able to develop quality

enhancement human resource teams that are responsible for evaluating and reinforcement of

quality services rendered to the clients. They ensure that engineering equipment is set according

to standards and is useful in operation. This has fueled a decrease in engineering-related issues

that are affecting the sector. The team also ensures safety, timeliness, effectiveness, equitable,

and efficient services to the parent organization. A gradual increase in the use of engineering

services has led to the reduction of death cases emanating from poor workmanship.

Trends in the Human Resource Engineering Department

Human resource management in the engineering sector has been credited for adopting

trends at a slower rate over a very long period of time. The necessary changes in the sector have

been seen where engineering companies have been facing digital transformation to ensure that

they use more effective and efficient machines. Having enhanced engineering services, people

have gone to the extent of owning some important engineering tools and equipment at their

workstations (Cascio, 2005).The improved engineering sector resulted to change in the processes

making the whole engineering process more efficient and effective due to automation

Strengths and weaknesses of Job searching: On the onset of Job search exercise,

applicants have the tendency of giving up because of the lack of positive feedback or event

negative feedback from the various applications that one has made. Approximately, more than

50% of Job applications are usually not successful because of absence of enough supporting

documents to show that one has the stated qualification in the resume to ensure that one has the

ability to perform his or her duties as stated in the Job description. Among the key strengths that

I poses in my Job search Journey is my objectivity and accountability of all the Job search and

applications that I have made. I also have the strength and interest of working towards

convincing my potential employer through provision of solid reasons as why I am the right

candidate for the vacant position.

Self-Assessment Research: This segment is very important since it enables one to look

at ones key potentials and being able to tell the employer that he/she is very fit to do the Job.

Service objectives and goals are important to be presented during the Job search and one is

supposed to describe what one will be able to contribute towards the success of the human

resource segment of the organization (Villar et al., 2000).

The Role of Human Resource in organizations according to the interviews done:

Majority of the persons in the department that I did an interview with argue that human resource

function is not only essential in any organization but also instrumental in enhancing strategic

decision making. This is supported by the argument that organizations human resource is an

important function in any given organization. Therefore they argued that human resource

managers are tasked with responsibility of developing the management of the employees towards

the understanding the culture of the organization. They also play an important in ensuring that

vacant positions are filled and through recruitment. After recruitment they are tasked with a

responsibility in ensuring that payrolls and workers benefits and remuneration are well taken

care off. Training and development is also another key function of human resource management.

Therefore the persons that are interested in the selection of Human resource services begin by

attaining an associate degree in the position of management. A person who has a higher degree

in the department of human resources can be sure of getting a managerial role in the top

organizational management. Consequently, the human resource specialist has the key role in the

designing and managing the whole process of recruitment in the organization. They do this

through ensuring that the people identified and selected candidates are able to work with the

organization and meet the desired performance standards. Therefore in summary human resource

personnel are responsible in the coordination, direction, planning and administration role of the

organization.

Short Term

 I will make applications for vacancies available for internship to enable me to have very

strong work experience in human resource positions from the month of August to

September 2021.

 I will look for mentorship and career grooming persons in Human resource department in

July 2021.

 I will place a lot of my focus on professional resource skills enhancement training in

2021.

Medium:

 I will aim a human resource group and consultants to find advice regarding the emergent

trends in the context of human resource during my internship in August and September

 I will be enrolling and registering for the internationally recognized human resource

recruitment organization for career growth from January 2022.

 I will target on seeking human resource management part-time Jobs such as interviewing

people in middle training institutions in the year 2021 which will provide me with a

tangible experience of the profession.

 I will diligently fill the leave and attendance records in international construction

organizations.

Long term:

 Ensure that I conduct my work towards enhancement of value-based working

environment in looking for a human resource management executive officer in an

international construction company.

 Being a senior human resource management officer in an international construction

industry, I will work towards making sure that remuneration and performance are in

tandem in order to maximize the wealth and profitability of the organization.

 Administration of human resource programs and policy efficiently and effectively while

at the same time maintaining internal customer satisfaction and meeting the financial

constrains in the company.

 In 2022, being the managing director of the construction company, I will ensure that I
