Sample: Blood Result: HCV RNA Negative. Principle

The document is a lab report for a HCV RNA test. It indicates that the test for the patient was negative for HCV RNA. It provides several comments about the test results and limitations of the assay including that a single negative result does not rule out infection and the lower detection limit of the test. It notes that the report was electronically verified on a particular date.

HCV RNA DETECTION BY PCR (QUALITATIVE)

Sample: Blood

Result: HCV RNA Negative.

Principle:
This assay exploits the principle of real time fluorescence PCR/RT-PCR. The increase in
fluorescence is directly proportional to specific target amplification during PCR.

Comments:
1. HCV RNA levels may fluctuate in the course of treatment.
2. A single negative HCV- PCR test does not exclude HCV infection, Clinical correlation is
advised with other parameters.
3. When HCV is suspected and PCR is negative, PCR should be repeated.
4. HCV infection is spontaneously cleared in almost 10-15% patients who develop anti HCV
antibody.

because of differences in PCR methods.

6. The lower detection limit of this assay is 15 IU/ml.
