Message: Dealing with evil contenders

Text: Psalm 35 verse 1


Bible Reading: Numbers 16 verses 1- end

In Psalms 35 verse 1, the Bible says plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me; fight
against them that fight against me; another version says contend with those that contend with me
and fight against those that fight against me;
This was the prayer of the Psalmist against his enemies, if David could pray unto God to contend
with his enemies, who are we not to do same. In this message we shall be looking at what is titled
dealing with evil contenders.

Who are this evil contender’s?


To every position of authority, there would be those that will oppose it and will continue doing so till
they destroy whosoever is occupying the position. Who then are the evil contenders?
- Envious friends
- Familiar powers
- Powers of darkness
- Evil competitors
- Over my dead body enemies
- Household wickedness
- Enemies within
- Sickness
- Evil altars
- Conscious and unconscious witchcraft

Signs of evil contenders in a life


- Unending criticism
- Open confrontation without doing no wrongs
- Evil demand for share of your office
- Attack against your own portion
- Report against you
- Nothing good is said about you
- Never appreciated for your efforts and labour
- We are better than him
- Petitions against you

In Numbers 16 verse 1- end, we saw how some well-known, respected and highly placed elders
within the camp of Israel rose against Moses and Aaron to contend with their office. Moses never
showed mercy upon them but allowed God to visit them with his anger.
The three families (Korah, Dathan and Abiram) and 250 others went to the grave alive. The sand you
have in your hand will become the same earth that swallowed those men, do not slack with your
prayers and don’t be afraid of them, if they are bold enough to contend with your destiny, you too
should be bolder to bring them to the grave

Failure to deal with this evil contenders will lead to the followings:-
- Loose of authority
- Scatter and destroy your ministry
- Turn you to a laughing stock
- Make others to rebel against you
- Overthrown you
- Eventually kill you
What then must we do?
- Firstly you must be sure of your stand with God
- Recognise that your contenders are out to destroy you
- Be prepared and ready to confront them
- Bring the wrath and judgement of God upon them

Prayer
1. My Father hear my plead against them that are fighting against me and come to my rescue
in the name of Jesus
2. Lord Jesus stop and disgrace those contending with my God’s given ministry in the name of
Jesus
3. My Father give me a voice that will overshadow the voice of the evil contenders in the name
of Jesus
4. Satanic opposition to my breakthrough die in the name of Jesus
5. Oh earth open and swallow all those plotting for my downfall in the name of Jesus
6. I shall not die in the hands of those fighting against me but they shall all die before me in the
name of Jesus
7. Oppositions against my testimonies scatter and die in the name of Jesus
8. Powers gathering other powers against me I come against you in the name of the Lord and
cause you to die in the name of Jesus
9. Lord Jesus bring all those using witchcraft to fight me to early grave in the name of Jesus
10. Evil Association plotting to dethrone me die in the name of Jesus
11. All those writing evil reports about my life shall die shamefully in the name of Jesus
12. All those spreading bad news about me shall all become bad news in the name of Jesus
13. Those questioning my authority and office and have vowed to see to my end, I bring the
judgement of the Lord against you in the name of Jesus
14. My Father cause the land where the evil contenders are standing to be their graveyard in the
name of Jesus
15. Angel of the Lord locate where they are planning for my destruction and destroy them all in
the name of Jesus
16. Those coming to my dream to kill me shall all be exposed and die openly in the name of
Jesus
17. My Father do not spare all those saying I’m not of God, bring your wrath against them in the
name of Jesus
18. Lord wipe all those contending with me away from the history of mankind in the name of
Jesus
19. Fire from the Lord burn to ashes all those assisting the evil contenders in the name of Jesus
20. Father Lord I thank you for killing all those who are not allowing me to enjoy what you have
given to me in the name of Jesus
