Project Overview

Tech Data Sdn Bhd was invited to suggest the development of a new computer lab project
for the Faculty of Information Management, UiTM Puncak Perdana. The project requires us
to propose a suitable computer lab specification including important computer lab design
aspects such as computer type, network architecture, layout, fit, hardware, software, floor
plan, room conditions, price rates, budgeting, etc.

Computer Lab Proposal Requirement

 The capacity of the laboratories is 30 students per class, a lecturer's computer and 2
employee computers.
 Activities: interactive learning animation, video and audio, multimedia app, web
application and software programming.
 The desk / table should be of downward folding style, which allows for more flexibility
between laboratory and reading sessions in the room.
 This lab must also be fitted with a computer, digitalisers, printers and other advanced
equipment that can be used for the teaching courses, as well as more space for large
tables and general teaching.

Computer Lab’s Mission

The mission of the Computer Lab is to provide instruction to tackle existing skills
gaps in education, along with topics such as reliability, scope and importance to our
education system and the economy. Tech Data Sdn Bhd offer the needs of today's emerging
generation in an extensive range of learning solutions and services.

LAB’S DESIGN AND LAYOUT

The modern computer lab style in many high schools and colleges serves as the
standard format. It has two big advantages, however. First, it is a great university, where a

lecturer on the front of the room teaches students technology subjects. This helps teachers
to see the eyes of students in the same direction and interpret non-verbal signs about the
layout of the other classroom settings, which demonstrate that the students will learn there.
This will be done by this development method, because it is more consistent with interaction
between students and lectures.

units. The computer lab will also meet other specifications needed during the classroom and
other facilities or equipment. It also comprises:

There are many choices for creating the architecture of a computer lab. The main
thing is to ensure that the form follows. Thinking and planning at the start of the workshop
means that the students and teachers are pleased with what the laboratory provides. It is
also designed to protect equipment from heavy traffic and protect students from injury to trip
and drop with much hardware cabling and the connections under the building. The choice of
the format will adversely affect student learning and decrease student engagement.

NETWORK

In networks we chose to use a LAN in which a computer network, usually limited to a

space or a house or group of buildings, covers a central or metropolitan area. A LAN
generally includes computers and peripherals that are attached to a network in a certain
geographical area, like an office or company. Computers and other mobile devices use a
LAN interface to share resources such as a printer or network storage.

TOPOLOGY

When we wanted to use the LAN as our network foundation, we understand that Star
Topology is a compatible topology for this network reference, where each node has a central
connection such as a centre or switch. The main network computer is a database and the
remote machines serve as consumers. A coaxial cable or RJ-45 network cable is used to

link computers together according to the form of network card used in every device of the
star's topology. This can help to bring down only one node if a cable breaks, with the other
links in good shape. In fact, connecting another device to the networks is simpler if it is
necessary.

In the meantime, we have to brace ourselves for the risk of the entire network being
removed from the network if the central computer, centre or connection fails. It may also cost
more to implement, notably when the switch or router is used as the main network device.
However, it requires an enormous number of installed computer or devices to prepare more
installation and maintenance costs.

BENEFIT OF COMPUTER NETWORK

 Sharing files – Simple to transfer or remotely access data between different

users if stored on other connected devices.

  Resource-sharing – The use or sharing of software between multiple users by
networked peripheral devices such as printers and scanners saves money.
 Sharing a single internet connection – it is economical and can protect
systems if the network is secured properly.
 Increasing storage capacity – Files and multimedia access, such as images
and music, stored on other machinery or network-connected storage
equipment remotely.

NETWORKING COMPUTERS CAN ALSO CONTRIBUTE TO IMPROVING

COMMUNICATION:

 Teachers, stuff and student can share information and communicate better.
 The operation of Lab is becoming more efficient, e.g. networked access to the
same registry will avoid duplicate keys of the same information, save time and
reduce failure.
 Teachers are able to handle requests and provide better service through
sharing information.
 Computer network price savings.
 The storage of data in a centralized database can also help to cut costs and
increase efficiency.
 Capable of minimizing mistakes and increasing consistencies by ensuring
common source of information, maintaining documents and folders in
standard versions and backup files from a single point on a scheduled basis,
ensuring reliability.

Basic Computer Application Software

All computers provide a set of basic software applications that are helpful for
beginning active computer literacy projects in daily programs based on specific tasks.

Throughout general, the program involves data entry tools and statistical data manipulation
such as spreadsheets, diagrams, charts and some applications essential for the
development of web sites and HTML files. Major commercial software are now frequently
bought as they are used in the client and productivity management. In training students to
use computers and applications common in the working environment.

To order to facilitate the process of entering data into the file, multiple application
programs must be installed in each device. The following function and definition can be
found among the basic application software for computers on every machine in the
laboratory.

A web browser is a program designed to locate the content on the Internet, retrieve
and display. Google Chrome, for example, is an open source program to access the World
Wide Web and run Internet-based applications. Google is based on the Chrome open source
project. The browser is Google Chrome. In 2008, Google launched Chrome and publishes
several updates annually. Windows and other operating systems are available. The Google
Chrome browser adopts a web security approach based on sandboxing. Every open website
is running in its own way, helping prevent malicious code from affecting others on a single
page (or the computer system in its entirety). The browser also supports Web standards
such as HTML5 and cascading style sheets (CSS).

Google based the appearance of Chrome OS, the web-based operating system, on
the Chrome Web browser. Chrome was the first major web browser to combine the search
box and address bar, which has been adopted by most competitors ever since. It also allows
users to register with their Google accounts to synchronize bookmarks and to open websites
on multiple devices. Google launched the Chrome Web Store in 2010, an online marketplace
where users can purchase and download Internet-based apps for browser service. Such
software can be used as browser extensions or website links.

 One of the major advantages of technology related to the Internet and the Internet is
that much can be accessed regardless of the hardware and software mounted. The
Internet's "network freedom" decreases Internet costs and increases the advantages. A key
area of Internet use is exposure to a range of Internet and Web-based software programs,
much of it widely available in different languages that can be used in a variety of ways,
including:

 Software browser and search to perform information on the internet.

 E-mail software enabling users to send and receive information from other
websites and websites.
 E-mail delivery program or listing system that allows user groups to shape
and quickly connect via e-mail.
 Technology for a Web-based forum for discussion that allows users to
participate in ongoing dialogs that connect topics or themes to shape topics.
 Interactive online tools to publish their ideas, comments, experiences, photos,
suggestions, etc., on web pages instantaneously.
 Chat and instant communication technology on the Web and on the internet,
allowing consumers to participate in text related conversations live.
 Easy-to-use Web page construction and publishing tools.

The existence of these software applications online or on the web, which enable
users to communicate remotely has created collaborative and project-based learning
opportunities which have not been possible before internet. Apps, many of which are freely
available, and allow users to create and publish Web pages and HTML documents on the
Internet belong to the important category of Internet technology. The Internet's "browser
freedom" has helped to create software applications like JAVA, FLASH and Shockwave that
can be used to create apps for the understanding of simple and complex systems and
principles. These programming languages can be used by user, and mediated learning
specialists to create simulations that can accelerate understanding of complex concepts and
demonstrate scientific activities that normally would need to be carried out in expensive labs.

CONCLUSION

Tech Data Sdn Bhd was designed to develop a proposal for a computer lab for the
student of UiTM Puncak Perdana. With the passing of time, healthier learners can receive
additional products and services. The correct learning, instruction and information to the
machine is critical. Otherwise, many are in an uncomfortable position, still without knowledge
about the digital world.

In a computer lab, it is desirable to provide options for a computer workstation that

addresses the needs of a wide range of users. The users with disabilities should be able to
access software data, output and records. If the necessary features of accessibility are not
implemented in commercial products, a range of aids can be acquired. Adaptive technology
consists of advanced hardware and software that allows people with a variety of skills to use
computers in their development. This laboratory model was designed to give the students a
forum for watching presentations and lectures, intensive work with software, self-studies,
and a community.

It is meant to be open to students with special needs and designed to ensure the
safety of both students and equipment. Its design includes easy access to maintenance as
well as room for growth. We believe this lab will serve the students of UiTM Puncak
Perdana well in the years to come. In conclusion, we present this assignment through
discussion and searching on the Internet. Ethical and effective communication becomes
even more vital if we are in the same field. By analyzing internet resources and
communication skills, we identified our strengths and weaknesses and developed some
ideas on how to improve our research skills under the proposed plan.
