Adequate Protection Works taken:

 RCC Curtain walls and Drop walls have been provided on upstream and
downstream side respectively up to a depth of 1.75 m below the bed level.
 RCC Curtain walls/ Drop walls have been constructed monolithically with
RCC wing / return walls, both founded on common 250mm thick base slab
laid over a layer of 150 mm thick PCC, thus making a “U-Type” monolithic
frame.
 150 mm thick M-20 concrete flooring has been provided between curtain wall
to drop wall.
 Sealing of joints of box segments have been done with suitable joint sealing
material i.e. Conbextra GP-2, developed by FOSROC.

 Above arches have been found suitable for 25 T loading 2008 standard as
per actual load testing of arches done as per guidelines issued by RDSO.
 Following steps were carried out during the test:
 Collection of field data like thickness, span, rise, cushion etc.
 Calculation of test load.
 Measurement and marking of centre arch.
 Erection and placement of dial gauges at pre-decided locations.
 Making arrangements for taking reaction by using loaded BFR using 02
hydraulic jack of 50 T capacity each with a pre-calibrated pressure gauge for
measuring the load.
 Load application vis-à-vis deflection spread measurement.
 The deflection of crown and spread at the springing level were observed for
different conditions of loading, viz., initial reading without any load,
thereafter at intermediate stages of loading and under full test load
conditions and finally after release of the load.
 In addition, raising of wing wall and return wall with RCC (M25) has been
done on all 05 retained arch bridges along with RCC Jacketing, where
required as per design aspects, to match with the formation profile of BG
standard.
