MAT 240 Project One

This report analyzes housing data from 100 randomly selected properties sold by the D.M. Pan National Real Estate Company to predict selling prices based on property size. Descriptive statistics show that house sizes ranged from 1,327 to 3,945 square feet, with an average of 1,949 square feet. A regression model found a moderate positive correlation between size and price, with house prices increasing by $131.60 for each additional square foot. This suggests the size of a property can help predict its selling price.

Introduction

This report tries to come up with a prediction model on the selling price of properties

based on their size of properties based on the results of the regression model conducted on a

sample data generated from the data collected from the D.M. Pan National Real Estate Company.

Specifically, the paper wants to come up with a model that would predict the selling price of

specific properties in a certain region in the United States.

100 records were randomly selected out of the 980 available data of the Real State

County data of the D.M. Pan National Real Estate Company. No particular region was also

selected before selecting the samples.

Data Analysis

For this particular problem, the outcome variable or the dependent variable is the listing price of
the house while the independent variable is the area of the house (in square feet). With these
variables, it is assumed that the listing price of a particular house is dependent on the size specifically
the area of the house.
