(a) Based on the buying rates quoted in the table given, find the amount, in
Singapore dollars, the bank will exchange for each of the following.
(i) RM300 (ii) THB 500
(b) Based on the selling rates quoted in the table given, find, for each of the
following currencies, the amount the bank will exchange for S$400.
(i) Philippines pesos (correct to the nearest peso)
(ii) Japanese yen (correct to the nearest yen)

(a) Based on the selling rates quoted in the table given, find the amount, in
Singapore dollars, the money changer will exchange for each of the
following.
(i) RM200 (ii) THB3500
(b) Based on the buying rates quoted in the table given, find, for each of the
foreign currencies given below, the amount the money changer will
exchange for S$850.
(i) Sterling pounds (ii) Philippines pesos

3. Given S$1 = R5710, find the amount of money, in Singapore dollars, in exchange
for R2 000 000. Correct your answer to the nearest dollar.

4. Azman is planning a holiday trip to China. He wants to change RMB10 000. Find
the amount he would need in Singapore dollars, if the exchange rate is S$100 to
RMB510.20.

5. Mr Suresh wants to send S$1 400 to his parents in India. Calculate this amount in
Indian rupees if the exchange rate is S$3.90 to 100 Indian rupees. Correct your
answer to the nearest rupee.

6. Linda bought a dress that costs US$30 from an eBay store via the Internet.
Shipping and handling costs were charged at US$8. Given the exchange rate of
US$1.00 to S$1.59, how much, in Singapore dollars, would Linda have to pay
altogether?

7. A meal in a restaurant costs S$30.50. Calculate, in pounds, a British tourist has to


pay for the meal if the exchange rate is £1 = S$2.90. Correct your answer to two
decimal places.

8. On a particular day, the rate of exchange between Japanese yen (¥) and
Singapore dollars ($) was ¥65 = S$1.
(a) Calculate, in yen, the amount received for S$200.
(b) Calculate, in Singapore dollars, the amount received for ¥29 250.
