Adeptus Titanicus Scheme
Adeptus Titanicus Scheme
Legio Lannisterius
Think something between Ignatum and Mortis (let me know if you need pictures from typical Legio Titans from these
Legios, I can send many) but more importantly… think Lannisters (i.e. the commission you recently did for Song of Ice
and Fire). Also, have a look at the link below as it looks gorgeous. Its for Knights (scroll to the 14 knights that are
red/gold/black) and they have a bit too much black (they end up looking very close to Mortis with so much black though
you can play with different panels on different titans).

Remember each Titan is -individual- meaning that for example the two Warlords don’t have to be exactly the same or
the 4 warhounds or the 2 reavers. Typically, in Titans you have slight variations on the legs (or knee) and some of the
panels. I am attaching below pictures to showcase this of the same Legio Titans looking different (not the colors we are
going for, its just for show). You can see for example the warhounds have different stripping/different leg armor or the
warlords have different should pad colors.
Color pattern:
Primary colors are Red, Gold –but NOT shinning bright gold, more burnished gold close to copper and bronze (like the
lions and banners on your Lannisters) a bit of black, a bit of white. I don’t care so much about hazard stripes but maybe
here and there those can be in a couple of titans on a couple of panels. The bodies (i.e. the skeleton) can be classic dark
metal of all titans with shading and highlights of course.
Main color should be RED and then some panels black and some yellow or gold and maybe VERY little blue if it fits a
panel here or there to make a warhound/warlord/reaver individual. The trim should be all gold (see above about the
note on the gold).
Option 1) I want the really RICH red that approaches orange/yellow in the highlighted parts (check the picture of the
Warhound and what you had done on the Tyrranofex for my Biedronkas near the ridge spines). From what I have been
reading a nice way to get this bright red is to paint red over metallic and it helps make it rich and shiny.
Option 2) I have also found the below that I -REALLY- Like and can make for good contrast of the black and gold… I
believe they used a technique with sponge to cause that effect of marbling or clouded armor (you can blow out the
pictures, I shrunk them to fit the section). Is it something you think you could do? If yes and you think it would look cool.
It should be brighter red and maybe mix of a hint of orange for highlight and less dark purple (so more bright red than
the one in the example – its an example for the effect) I would be really happy.
As we discussed, If its not too much to ask maybe you could try it on a few panels and send me picture how it looks
before we commit to either concept as the red should be the same across titans (with the caveats we mentioned above
about some differences in panels to make them individual titans). I am sending additional armor pieces that you can use
to try it out and also as debris for bases
Battle damage/weathering:
SOME battle damage and weathering would also be very nice (sparingly, not to overdo it) but NOT the ‘dirty’ kind on the
feet. Meaning some damage like from blasts/bullets/rust are all cool but not the ‘dust clouds’ that have made the titan
dirty – Check pictures below to see difference of bullet damage vs dust damage (again you can make the pictures bigger
to see the details)
Voids/Plasmas/Eyes:
Please make sure you highlight the Void Shield Generators (the little round things on top that look like cogs) – this can
be concept similar to plasma but not as strong or they can be copper but make sure they are not ‘lost’ on the metallic
body.
For plasma weapons – OSL would be nice… I am open to either Green Plasma Coils or Blue plasma coils… the artists can
choose depending on how the overall model looks like – i.e. to add some more contrast so you can leave them for last.
Same for eyes – you can do some OSL but it shouldn’t be too much given the whole head is quite small.
For Bases
I am including with the minis I am shipping some building debris and spare titan pieces that you can use as well as a
couple of Epic Armageddon Rhinos that you can use (sparingly 😉). The Warlord base was an attempt to get a nice
contrast with the ‘planned’ Titan colors (i.e. because of a lot of Gold/Red/Black I thought snow bases will look cool).
The theme of the bases is as follows: Imagine a critical Desert Planet (so cracked earth and sandy environment)… the
planet is attacked for years by the Warmaster Horus… as a result huge dust clouds cover the atmosphere bringing forth
an ice age… so you end up with worn roads/worn buildings (from the years of dust winds in the desert) that now
experiences unprecedented snow fall (without the rains in between) as such you get an environment of cracked earth
like in the desert but covered in snow. I mainly used Citadel technical paints to achieve the effect… feel free to change
concept slightly or follow it… I am sure you will be better at it than me. Don’t forget to use a LOT of gloss over them to
protect the base.
-=-=-
I am looking for something that follows the theme but isn’t the same… so we still have some red some silver and some
gold but without making them look like babies of the Legio (generally the Legios align with specific houses and from a
miniature perspective its used to make some contrast but unfortunately I don’t fully like the Blue/Green/Purple colored
knights that would be a proper contrast). I thought also about White (ala White Scars) but I don’t know if it would look
good… if you have advise given your painters have good eyes for this stuff I am very open to it.
I am putting below two alternative schemes that could work (unless you can convince me on the white 😉). Out of the
two I prefer the first one but I would like your opinion.
Option A) Its basically Grey Knights inspired Impirial Knights. Think Silver/White/Red/Gold as main colors… its important
that armor panels and skeleton body don’t look the same – so from the 2 examples below the one on the left has nicer
‘silver white’ but very little red, which is why I am putting the other one there as well.
Option B) House Procon Vi – Its black and Grey and a hint of brown. Simpler and not as ‘fancy’ but can be a contrast… on
the other hand it’s a bit… generic and not as inspiring 😉.
