SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Hardware requirements
CPU

 Processor
A system with a P4 processor of speed greater than 1.6 GHz. This is for fast and
best processing. It will be needed for sorting, searching and updating the database.
It is also needed for the controlling the functioning of the hardware and storing
records temporarily awhile they are being processed.

 RAM
128 MB or 256 MB will be suitable to run and fulfill the requirements. This will
ensure a faster running of the system.

 Hard Disk
A 40 GB hard disk will be required to store the large amount of data and software
required to run the database. It also needed for storing the DBMS, the operating
system and the database.

 MONITOR

This is used for displaying output. A 17 inches monitor with a high screen
resolution will be suitable for the new system. It is needed for the displaying the
results of different processes on the database.

 KEYBOARD
A QWERTY 101keyboard will be used for the easy and quick input of data in the
database i.e. in the forms.
 MOUSE
A mouse will be helpful in the selection of icons and moving cursor on the screen.
It is also used for selecting the text for editing and formatting.

 PRINTER
Printer is an output device which will be used in the printing of reports daily,
weekly and monthly. A laser printer is required due to its fast and good quality
results.

 USB
A USB will prove beneficial. It is portable and small so that the data can be taken
to any place.

 UPS
A UPS will be required because power crisis are common in Pakistan. With the
help of UPS when there will be no electricity the computer will not be turned off
and the user will continue to work.

 DSL
A DSL is needed for Internet connection. Internet connection is needed
for the company to send/receive emails of doctors. A 1.2 Mbps internet
connection is suitable for the task.
Software requirements

 OS (Operating system)
Microsoft Windows XP will be used as an operating system. Windows will provide
medium for hardware and software to communicate. This window is user friendly,
much more advanced and are excellent in data and program handling. It is also
needed to deal with execution errors as they occur.

 MS Access
Microsoft Access will be required as the proposed system based on this program.
This program is user friendly and software is easy to make. It provides the user
with different wizards which make it easy to design reports, tables and forms. It
provides excellent security and data sharing features. Microsoft Access has an easy
report generating facility. It also validates all the manual entries. Without this
proposed system is impossible.

 An Antivirus program
An antivirus program is needed to keep computer free of viruses. Panda antivirus
can be installed to keep the computer free of viruses.

 Printer/Modem driver

This program is needed to control the functioning of the respective devices


enabling them to perform their outlined role in the system.
