LEARNING CHECK:

1. In your own opinion, which is better view curriculum in the point of view of a Traditionalist or
in the point of view of a Progressivist? Support your answer

As an educator there’s no wrong in using these two curriculums because it always

depends on the student on how she can cope up with these but there’s always a
disadvantage and advantage of this. A traditional curriculum uses teaching methods that
are similar to those used in the past. It's similar to what most of us have gone through in
school, when we sit in a classroom and take in what the teacher says. The usual systems
include lectures, the utilization of instructional materials, recitations, and assignments.
A progressive curriculum on the other hand, it challenges pupils to discover things on
their own. The capacity to uncover and solve problems through experiments and
practical issue solving are the primary instructional approaches used here. We may
believe that progressive curriculum is the greatest option for your child because it
allows for a more dynamic approach to learning about the world's ways, but traditional
curriculum also offers something more substantively academic that may be the greatest
option for your child.

2. Enumerate the important elements found in a curriculum?

Framework- A set of assumptions about the learner and society, including the learner's
capacity and ability, aptitudes and learning potential, motivation, needs, interests, and
values, as well as society's attitude toward fostering or exploiting the individual.

Aims and Objective- Why should education be offered, and in what direction should it
be directed?
Content or Subject-Matter- This includes the selection of what will be taught and
learned, as well as the scope and sequencing of the subject-matter.

Modes of transaction that deal with the teaching-learning process and include teaching
methods, learning experiences both within and outside the institution, learning settings,
instructors' and students' materials, and instructors' and students' materials.

Evaluation methods and techniques for students

LEARNING CHECK:

1. Which do you think is better, the taught, the assessed or the learned? Why?

- For me, this three (the taught, the assessed and the learned) are very crucial, because
you can’t be an effective teacher without this. Becoming a teacher provides limitless
opportunities to assist all pupils in comprehending and realizing their full potential.
Teaching is not simply a demanding job; it is also a calling to help others.

2. In the types of curriculum listed above, enumerate those that are learned not in school?

 E-curriculum
 Phantom
 Rhetorical
 Concomitant

LEARNING CHECK:

1. What is the reason why curricula undergo evaluation? Support your answer.

- Curriculum evaluation is an important part of the process of adopting and implementing

any new curriculum in any educational environment because it determines whether or
not the newly adopted curriculum is achieving the desired outcomes and reaching the
objectives that it has set forth. Another goal of curriculum evaluation is to collect data
that may be used to identify areas that need to be improved or changed.

2. I will list down groups of people and identify what roles they play in the context of a
curriculum:

 School Administrators

School administrators play a key role in managing communications with parents via setting up
and managing reporting procedures. They also ensure that parents have easy access to their
child's information
 Teachers

Teachers has a lot of roles such as building a warm environment, mentor and nurture students,
become role models, and listen and look for signs of trouble. The most
common role a teacher plays in the classroom is to teach knowledge and attitude of children.

 Dean

Deans are academic administrators who oversee a school's academic, programmatic,

managerial, and financial operations.

 Students

Students are the one who are taught by the teacher in school without them there is no school.
Students should be willing to learn at all cost.

 DepEd Supervisors

DepEd Supervisors provide guidance and instructional supervision to school heads by observing
and gathering data on their strengths and development needs and then coaching them towards
improved instructional leadership practices.

 Registrar

A registrar is responsible for processing enrollment requests, scheduling classes and

maintaining class schedules, enforcing class rules, and maintaining a permanent record of
grades and grades.

CRITICAL THINKING

"PHILIPPINE SHIFT TO K-12 CURRICULUM"

Answer the following questions:

1) What can you say about the headline you have chosen?

- The headline I picked is about the Philippines' transition to a K-12 curriculum. In 2011,
the Department of Education (DepEd) launched a new learning program called the K to
12 basic education programs. The K–12 system attempts to develop Filipino students'
capacities in mathematics, science, and language in order for them to be more
competitive in the global labor market. The components of the new curriculum,
according to the Department of Education, will result in a higher-quality education. The
K to 12 program builds global competency by expediting reciprocal recognition of
Filipino graduates and professionals in other countries. Academic, Technical-Vocational-
Livelihood, and Sports and Arts are now available to students in the new curriculum.
Students will also be able to engage in immersions, acquire valuable industry exposure,
and earn experience in their chosen sector. The prior curriculum offered a complete and
linear education, but it lacked the practical applications supplied by the K-12 curriculum.

2. Will it reflect what are going on in our schools?

- Curriculum changes have an influence on what happens at our school. Future K-12
experiences will be influenced by new technology, as well as notions of flexibility and
personalization. Many people imagine a child casually swiping through digital flash cards
on a tablet when they hear the phrases "edtech" and "online learning." Forward-
thinking industry leaders and educators, on the other hand, anticipate technology
playing a far more nuanced role in future classrooms, where blended learning—the
combination of online learning and traditional schools—enables personalized,
competency-based learning. As a result, the school and pupils will find it difficult to
adapt to the new curriculum.

3. Should the public know and be involved in the schooling of their citizens?

- Public schools have the potential to play a large role in the overall betterment of their
communities, as well as serve as a vital platform for improving child welfare. Various
efforts have been used in the past by social reformers, politicians, and educational
leaders to develop the interaction between schools and communities in order to achieve
the common goal of enhancing child welfare and learning circumstances for all children.
4. What are the implications of the headline in the classroom curriculum?

- Teachers provide prompts to assist students offer accurate responses in classrooms

where it is assumed that every student is capable of offering complete and correct
answers. This means that children will improve their communication and social skills, as
well as encourage positive peer interaction and achieve a number of educational
objectives. Additionally, students will get additional knowledge and experience that will
be valuable in the future.
CREATING

“ME AS AN EDUCATOR”

Teachers are the people who have the most influence on our future. From the Pre-Kinder
Garden to what we want to be in the future, they teach, transmit information, share ethical
principles, and instill morals, therefore developing our personality as a strong one. Being a
teacher is one of the most wonderful occupations in the world. Not only is it extremely
satisfying throughout the process, but it is also a lifetime achievement. Although anybody may
become a teacher, not everyone can really be a teacher. Just because someone has a degree
does not imply they will be productive. To be a good teacher, you must have a strong sense of
passion, drive, and desire. Passion for the profession, drive for success, and a desire to make a
difference are all traits I want to embody one day when it is my turn.

Teaching is not just about more than simply helping kids learn what they need to know for the
next grade level; it is also about altering someone's life. The aim is to impact every student's
life, but if all you can do is alter or touch one, you've done well. I hope that when I become a
teacher, I can encourage my pupils to pursue their ambitions, to succeed in every endeavor
they do, and to one day impact someone else's life for the better. Being a teacher is a
tremendously fulfilling career if it is something you genuinely want to do. There is no other
motivation to become a teacher than a strong desire to do what you do every day. I understand
that every kid is different, that everyone has various learning styles and obstacles, but my
commitment to myself and to every student I come across during my career is to have
enthusiasm, determination, and the mindset that I am here to change someone's life for the
better.

The three most essential components in the educational process are the kid, the instructor, and
the subject matter. If one of the elements is removed, it is questionable if education can take
place. The most essential element is the child who will be educated. The instructor is required
to assist him through the educational process. Without the instructor, the child may learn
incorrectly. The instructor sifts through subject matter and determines what will be taught to
the child. The method also guides the child in determining which aspects of the subject matter
to admire and which attitudes to cultivate, Teachers should select methods that will best help
students understand the content, ideas, and principles of a certain scripture block and will
enable edification and application. As a teacher, I will adhere to national curricular
requirements in my subject areas of competence. My lecture should be well-planned and
structured before I present it.
The most crucial aspect of teaching is that we are in charge of molding their minds and hearts.
Therefore I conclude that it is a blessing to have an excellent teacher who can form a bond with
the pupils. A good teacher should be a mentor, a philosopher, a guide, a friend, and, most
importantly, a surrogate parent for the students. I consider myself fortunate to have had one
during my lifetime.
