To enable students to write Informal Report by following

format, purpose ,tone and suitable language

• Students will be able to understand the topic wisely.

• They will provide logical and reasonable points for the topic,

• They will use appropriate language and tone addressed to the


audience

• They will develop high order thinking skills by researching for the
topic on internet or other resources
Writing a News Report
•
The key elements of a News Report are:
• 1: Headline
Catches your attention
Sums up the story
• 2:Writer’s Specialty, e.g. sports, food, crime,
current events
• 3: Where the story begins
. Body
Supplies detail, Most important details come first
• Quotation
What someone actually said ,Adds accuracy
Adds “at the scene” feeling
• Lead
The opening section
Gives most important information
Should answer most of the 5W's

You are advised to write between 200-300 words Marks :30

Task

Recently a small child who was lost, was found wandering near a dangerous road and was rescued and
taken back home safely by a stranger, who walked away without giving a name. As a newspaper
reporter, write your report of this incident which must include all the following:

• A suitable heading, When and where the incident happened


• A brief description of the child, How the stranger was able to help
• A request for the helpful stranger to contact the child’s parents by telephone

You may add further details but remember that newspapers do not have space for long, exciting stories.
Your report should be a statement of the facts, in clear, correct English.
Assessment for learning

students will develop Informal Report writing skills as required in
