Dual ARINC type synchro transmitters are sechanically positioned by 2 stepper motor which is sequenced by pulses developed at the gyro-gimbal shaft -encode: Long term alignnent to magnetic North is maintained by actuating the stepper sotor in response to an error signal developed in the flux valve control t~ Fansforner (geared to the output synchros). Due to the discrete positioning Behavior of the stepper motor, the output vector will track the true or slaved hebading in 1/4 degree increments Slaving rates are detersined by the mode of operation. In the “free” (decoppled flux valve) moge, slaving can be manually set to the fast rate of 10” per Second, and no compensation is otherwise provided for gyro drift. In. the "slaved" mode (coupled to flux valve), automatic fast slaving occurs at 14” per second for the first 1-1/2 minutes following turn-on and 20 seconds axjnun. Thereafter, slaving will continue, autonatically, at the slow rate of 2.5° per Binute. Operation modes may be selected by the pilot actuating the controls on the KA 51B Slaving Accessorys KA 518 SLAVING ACCESSORY (See Figure 2-19) The KA 518 Slaving Accessory is a panel mounted unit that displays the slaving error between the KNT 112 and KSG 105 by means of @ small illuminated eter novenent. KA 162 TRIM ADAPTER (See Figure 2-28) The KA 142 interfaces the KC 299 Flight Computer with the pitch trim servo in those installations which require two different tris speeds. The KA tee 3 capable of operating on #14 or *28 volts by using an external jumper between pins kK and 6 when the unit is to be operated on +14 volts. When a flaps in motion signal is received by the KA 142, the time delay circuit quickly commands the trim speed siteh driver to drive the trim speed switch to Fast trim, when the flaps come to a stop, the time delay circuit will keep the KA 142 in fast trim speed for a certain period of time. That period of time 35 determined by 2 pot in the time delay circuit. The autotrim direction drive sensor monitors the flaps in motion switches both UP‘ and DN. If the autopilot system tries to tria both up and down at the sone time, the autotria direction drive sensor will pull one of the trim drive Lines fo ground. This will prevent the tris servo, from trying to drive both directions at the same tine which could result in damage to the tria server Both flaps in motion UP and flops in motion DN follow the same theory of operation.
