ACTIVITY PROPOSAL

Title of the Activity: Gender Equality Awareness Amidst the New Normal
Target Participants: Open to All participants in the Internet

Funding Source: The activity will be personally funded by the Group 5- Gender equality.

I. RATIONALE

The Senior High Department of Caraga Regional Science High School, specifically under the
Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand often finds the concern on Gender
Equality being neglected or misunderstood by Filipinos due to the certain beliefs that are
backed by long standing cultures and traditions. The Philippines still has a long way to go in
order to achieve true Gender Equality. Thus, we the Humanities and Social Sciences
Gender Equality Advocates proudly and wholeheartedly propose the Virtual Symposium on
Gender Equality, with a theme: Gender Equality Awareness Amidst the New Normal, a
4-hour comprehensive symposium, intensive exposure and crystallization of opinions on
Gender Equality.

This said program will focus on the Gender Equality Situation in the Philippines, and is open
for everyone on the internet, this coming June 19, 2021 at 1pm-5pm. This symposium will
be interactive thus, we will need the participants’ opinions and full participation through the
use of Google Meet on applicable electronic devices.

The cornerstone of this activity is to raise awareness and educate the people on the Internet
who are willing to join our online community symposium, where we abolish specific gender
roles and arrive at certain values, judgment, and understanding on Gender Equality.

II. TRAINING PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This activity will be designed to help and give knowledge to everyone about Gender Equality.
It is a virtual symposium that will tackle what gender equality is, the core values and
principles, ways to promote awareness, and gender equality in times of this pandemic. This
project will benefit everyone because it will help them understand more about gender and
equality. Its contribution to the prevention of discrimination against all genders, the safety,
and welfare of our populations. It is both a civil right and beneficial to the economy.

There will be no registration fee in this activity since we want a free and accessible way of
learning for everyone. The topics for this Webinar are; gender equality as a fundamental
human right and methods to promote awareness. The lecturers in the activity are Grade 12-
Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students of Caraga Regional Science High
School, members of the gender equality group since we are the ones who will head and
propose the activity.

III. OBJECTIVES

To be aware is to understand the roots of gender equality- what it is and the core values and
principles underlying it.

Since it is a virtual symposium, everyone is highly encouraged to participate.

The main objectives of the activity are:

1. To raise and promote awareness of gender equality to the Filipinos, and

2. To educate oneself to be open minded of the issues of gender equality in times of the
pandemic.
3. To give importance to gender equality here in the Philippines.

With these, the people will be reminded and knowledgeable about gender equality as a
fundamental human right and the ways how to alleviate gender equality issues here in the
Philippines.

IV. ACTIVITY CONTENT AND METHODOLOGIES

Gender Equality Awareness Amidst the New Normal this activity will be done online wherein
all of the participants will join the Webinar via Google Meet. The lecturers will tackle Gender
Equality’s core values and how Gender Equality is timely in this time of the pandemic. The
Webinar will compromise a four-hour session in the afternoon (1:00-5:00 pm). This Webinar
is open for all people who have internet access. The Webinar will be led by the Grade 12-
Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) students of Caraga Regional Science High
School, members of the gender equality group. (See attachment 1 for the topics and
schedule of the session)

V. EXPECTED OUTPUTS
It is expected that the participants will learn and understand the topic of Gender and
Equality. The students of Caraga Regional Science High School under the Humanities and
Social Sciences are whole-heartedly conducting this kind of activity in which we students
have a concern about what’s going on in the society regarding gender and equality.

With these, since we are still amid a pandemic, we ought to say that we cannot
expect a face-to-face situation in pursuing our symposium. Hence, we still try to find another
way and came up with using Google Meet and let others be aware to join our symposium for
free. We managed to come up with the result that the expected output would be successful
as well as impactful to the community in which people have already insights and awareness
regarding gender equality about the things they should do and they shouldn’t do. We hope
that the participants can learn and grasp from it by listening and understanding our
symposium program.

VI. EXIT PLAN/ SUSTAINABILITY

Gender Equality Awareness Amidst the New Normal is a one-day virtual google meet
that first started this year 2021 by the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand. The
organization approved to have this activity due to the covid pandemic and for the
convenience and safety of the students.

VII. MONITORING AND EVALUATION

The remaining members of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), specifically the
Gender Equality group, of the 12 HUMSS class are the ones who will lead in the monitoring,
preparation, and flow of the activity. They will also prepare the list of participants who will
take active participation in the said activity.

VIII. MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE

With the given circumstance, approved activity, therefore, must be done online. The
committees were not limited only in supervising and arranging the event but also the one
who’s going to be the speakers in the symposium if deemed that inviting speakers are
difficult to find or unnecessary. The arranged committee is composed of several and divided
tasks with assigned heads and team members (see attachment 2 for the committee
assignment).

Note: The Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) constitute the Group 5 of the
Grade 12 year level body. The Group 5 should compose of a committee per task,
each must have a head and team members. The Activity Committee shall presume
supreme leadership over the other committees and the head of each committee
must report daily on their progress and updates. However, the head of each
committee must troubleshoot immediate problems without having to consult with the
Activity Committee.
