Site Visit Report On Excavator: Section 1 I
Site Visit Report On Excavator: Section 1 I
ABSTRACT
On the 16/02/2018, we went to construction site which is found around our campus for
review on actual construction equipment’s. The objective of the site visit was mainly to
familiarize ourselves with the operations of various Construction equipment’s especially
excavator. During the site visit, we were exposed to various construction equipment’s,
machineries and also had the chance to observe how they operate. At that time of the
visit, the construction works were at the piling stage. Thus, there was nothing much to
observe. However, we were also given the opportunity to experience the construction
machineries at work. We learnt the importance of a construction equipment’s for high
production and reducing labor fatigue and cost as well as safety equipment’s. The site
consisted of many possible safety threats or potential threats where fatal accidents can
occur. Upon arrival, we were all inspected - the management had to ensure that we were
all properly attired with safety gear and covered shoes before we were allowed to go in. It
was a standard protocol at all construction sites. Safety is after all the most important
aspect in a construction project. This outdoor experience provides us with a more in-
depth and hands on experience on heavy duty and Construction equipment’s. We were
able to question, understand and absorb the logic behind the machineries, equipment’s
working principles, and methodology theory learnt in class. In this report we will discuss
about the general feature, working principle and applications of excavator.
