Assignment lecture 1
Pick at least two of the attached reference photos to create studies
and follow these steps:

1. Observe: What do you see: Create one or more clear sketches in


which you define the basic proportions and shapes.
2. Emphasise this idea. Draw the object with a focus on what stands
out to you. Add a small note next to your drawing, helping me to
understand what your intention is.
3. Exaggerate! Now turn up the volume even more! Allow yourself to
move away from the reference and create an appealing character.

Compare the final drawing to the first one and see how this
communicates your concept more clearly.

tip: focus on one general idea: is your character tall? make him taller, is
he hunched, exaggerate this. keep one clear idea in mind. This will help
to communicate your concept clearly.
