796 Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) - Advanced Level
This syllabus is designed to prepare candidates for the GCE Advanced Level ICT, to retain
proficient end-user ICT skills that would enable them to fit in almost every sector of the digital
society such as in government and public administration, education and research,
corporate/private sector and general business operations. It incorporates a wide range of ICT
applications, upgraded from Ordinary Level ICT with additional emphasis on Information Systems
and IT Security that affects almost all sectors of the ICT world today.
Considering the fact that ICT is a sector that has a global impact, this syllabus is relevant, up-to-
date and in line with the world’s leading end-user ICT certification programmes such as that of
1
the ICDL Foundation. Hence candidates are not only prepared for the Cameroon society but for
a challenging and rapidly evolving global e-society.
This subject is largely independent though knowledge of the Ordinary Level ICT Syllabus is
recommended to facilitate the understanding of some sections of the syllabus. Mathematics is
not a prerequisite though an added advantage to the understanding of this subject, especially as
the syllabus is designed to suit candidates from all educational backgrounds such as Arts,
Science, Technical-commercial and Technical-industrial.
