PROJECT PROPOSAL
I. RATIONALE
The Tourism Industry in San Teodoro is developing drastically in the past years
that give opportunities and livelihood to local. It is famous for its inland tourism and
other eco-tourism attraction. The municipality was branded as the haven of a dozen and
one waterfalls which are starting to draw attention from local and foreign tourists alike
for its cascading waters and untouched natural beauty. It is also known for having rich
biodiversity, not to mention the fine beach sand in its coastal areas that makes it suitable
for nature-based inland tourism. In recent years, San Teodoro has been utilizing
traditional marketing strategies alone. This leads the Municipal Government to spend
an enormous amount of money and to allocate a huge portion of the tourism budget to
such activities that have no direct return on investment.
Amidst this pandemic, the tourism industry has been forced to shift into more
aggressive approach to recover from the losses caused by the lockdown and travel
restrictions. As the current situation suggests contactless transactions, San Teodoro
Tourism envisions being innovative in promotion and marketing through social media
without compromising the governing rules relating to health protocols. Through this
creative approach, the municipality is set to aid domestic tourists in contactless and safe
tourism activities.
Social Media has made a huge impact on the tourism industry. Consumers
engage with social networking sites to research trips, make informed decisions about
their travels and share their personal experiences of a particular accommodations and
travel agency. Social Media enables especially young people to share the most
significant memories from their travels with a vast audience. Tourism companies
should know that this is a more powerful way of attracting new travelers than simple
advertisements and encourage people to share their real experience online. Customer
service is another essential aspect of the tourism industry that has changed with social
media. Now brands and businesses can reach their customer directly through social
media.
The Local Government continues to innovate while honoring the deeply rooted
history, geography and singularity that have landed us with the premier tourism
destinations in the province and in the country. Modern marketing is not limited to the
identification and satisfaction of customers need. Advertising relies heavily on

storytelling. Storytelling allows advertisers to frame a scene that’s familiar and relatable
to the consumer.
II. OBJECTIVES
The proposed Visit San Teodoro: Local Tourism Circuit Marketing Project
is composed of two (2) major components, namely:
A. The Tourism Promotions Board shall provide funding and technical support for
the realization of this project.
B. Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro through the Provincial Tourism
Office shall provide technical assistance in the materialization of this project.
C. Local Government Unit of San Teodoro – through the Municipal Tourism
Office, the Local Government shall provide logistical support and technical
assistance to the team who will prepare the integration of the Social Media Local
Tourism Tour Package Project for tourism services in the social media
platforms.
D. Barangay Government Unit – through the Sangguniang Barangay member head
on the committee on Tourism of eight (8) Barangay of this Municipality shall
provide logistical support and technical assistance to the team who will prepare
the integration of the Social Media Tourism Loop Marketing Project.
E. Community-based Sustainable Tourism Organizations (CBSTOs) – shall
provide technical assistance in identifying marketable sites in the tourism loop.
F. Accommodations, Restaurants, San Teodoro Tourism Council and other
stakeholders shall provide technical assistance in identifying partners for the
project.
Social Media Marketing is the use of social media platforms to connect with
tourist, travelers and audience to build brands, increase sales, and drive website traffic.
This involves publishing great content on the social media profiles, listening to and
engaging followers, analyzing results, and running social media advertisements. The
major social media platforms (at the moment) are Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,
Youtube and Tiktok. This component features the creation of contents using videos and
clips of the identified tour packages catering day tours. Once the content is published
there will be a content aggregation to boost the number of audience of the platforms
thus increasing the potential travelers going to San Teodoro.

In this digital world the importance of digital marketing is well understood and
audience are more drawn towards visual. Visuals are more pleasing and good to look
at, it can connect to visuals more than anything that is in writing hence digital brochure
have come into being. This component creates a digital layout brochure that will be
included in marketing and promotion project of the municipality. This includes the
tourism packages/ circuit that will cater memorable activities and experiences. Tourism
Circuit Digital Brochure is beneficial because it provides unique opportunity to present
the municipality’s offers, products and marketing messages.

The total project cost for the proposed VISIT SAN TEODORO: LOCAL
TOURISM CIRCUIT MARKETING PROJECT is Four Million Pesos (Php 4, 000,
000.00).
A. Aside from creating avenue to promote local product, with consistent updating,
the right social media marketing strategy will increase trustworthiness and
brand recognition, increase levels of travelers service and satisfaction, foster
online community and tell authentic stories, become part of the zeitgeist,
increase revenue with social commerce and create opportunity for investors and
employment.
