In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and

The Most Merciful
‫ك َوه َُو َع َل ٰى ُك ِّل َشىْ ۢ ٍء‬ ُ ‫ك ٱلَّ ِذى ِب َي ِد ِه ْٱلم ُْل‬
َ ‫َت َب ٰـ َر‬
‫َق ِدي ٌر‬
Tabaarakal lazee biyadihil mulku wa huwa
‘alaa kulli shai-in qadeer
Ayat 1. Blessed is He in whose hand is
dominion, and He is over all things competent –

‫ت َو ْٱل َح َي ٰو َة لِ َي ْبلُ َو ُك ْم‬

َ ‫ٱلَّ ِذى َخ َل َق ْٱل َم ْو‬
‫أَ ُّي ُك ْم أَحْ َسنُ َعمَاًۭل ۚ َوه َُو ْٱل َع ِزي ُز ْٱل َغفُو ُر‬
Allazee khalaqal mawta walhayaata
liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu ‘amalaa; wa
huwal ‘azeezul ghafoor
2. [He] who created death and life to test you [as
to] which of you is best in deed – and He is the
Exalted in Might, the Forgiving –
‫ت ِط َبا ًقا ۖ مَّا َت َر ٰى‬ ٍ ‫ٱلَّ ِذى َخ َل َق َسب َْع َس ٰ َم ٰ َو‬
َ
‫ت ۖ فٱرْ ِج ِع‬ َ ٰ
ٍ ُ‫ِفى َخ ْل ِق ٱلرَّ حْ ٰ َم ِن ِمن َتفو‬
‫ور‬
ٍ ُ
‫ط‬ ُ ‫ف‬ ‫ن‬ ‫م‬
ِ ‫ى‬ٰ ‫ر‬َ ‫ت‬َ ‫ل‬ْ ‫ه‬
َ ‫ر‬
َ ‫ص‬
َ ‫ب‬َ ْ
‫ٱل‬
Allazee khalaqa sab’a samaawaatin
tibaaqam maa taraa fee khalqir rahmaani
min tafaawutin farji’il basara hal taraa min
futoor
3. [And] who created seven heavens in layers.
You do not see in the creation of the Most
Merciful any inconsistency. So return [your]
vision [to the sky]; do you see any breaks?

َ ‫ْن َين َقلِبْ إِ َلي‬

‫ْك‬ ‫ي‬ َ
‫ت‬ َّ‫ر‬ َ
‫ك‬ ‫ر‬
َ ‫ص‬
َ ‫ب‬
َ ْ
‫ٱل‬ ‫ع‬ ‫ج‬ ْ‫ٱر‬ ‫م‬
َّ ُ
‫ث‬
ِ ِِ
‫اس ۭ ًئا َوه َُو َح ِسي ۭ ٌر‬
ِ ‫ص ُر َخ‬ َ ‫ْٱل َب‬
Summar ji’il basara karrataini yanqalib
ilaikal basaru khaasi’anw wa huwa haseer
4. Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your]
vision will return to you humbled while it is
fatigued.
 ‫يح‬ َ ‫َو َل َق ْد َز َّي َّنا ٱل َّس َمٓا َء ٱل ُّد ْن َيا ِب َم‬
َ ‫ص ٰـ ِب‬
‫ين ۖ َوأَعْ َت ْد َنا‬
ِ ‫ط‬
ِ ‫ـ‬
ٰ ‫ي‬
َ َّ
‫ش‬ ‫ل‬ ِّ ‫ل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫م‬ ً ۭ ‫ُو‬‫ج‬ ‫ر‬
ُ ‫ا‬ ‫ه‬
َ ‫ـ‬
ٰ َ
‫ن‬ ْ
‫ل‬ ‫َو َج َع‬
‫ير‬ِ ‫ع‬
ِ ‫س‬
َّ ‫ٱل‬ ‫اب‬
َ ‫ذ‬َ ‫ع‬
َ ‫م‬
ْ ‫ه‬ ُ َ
‫ل‬
Wa laqad zaiyannas samaaa’ad dunyaa
bimasaa beeha wa ja’alnaahaa rujoomal lish
shayaateeni wa a’tadnaa lahum ‘azaabas
sa’eer
5. And We have certainly beautified the nearest
heaven with stars and have made [from] them
what is thrown at the devils and have prepared
for them the punishment of the Blaze.
۟ ‫ين َك َفر‬
ۖ ‫ُوا ِب َرب ِِّه ْم َع َذابُ َج َه َّن َم‬ َ ‫َولِلَّ ِذ‬
‫صي ُر‬ ِ ‫س ْٱل َم‬ َ ‫َو ِب ْئ‬
Wa lillazeena kafaroo bi rabbihim ‘azaabu
jahannama wa bi’sal maseer
6. And for those who disbelieved in their Lord is
the punishment of Hell, and wretched is the
destination.
 ۟ ُ‫إِ َذٓا أ ُ ْلق‬
۟ ‫وا ِفي َها َس ِمع‬
‫ُوا َل َها َش ِهي ۭ ًقا َو ِه َى‬
‫َتفُو ُر‬
Izaaa ulqoo feehaa sami’oo lahaa
shaheeqanw wa hiya tafoor
7. When they are thrown into it, they hear from
it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up.

‫ْظ ۖ ُكلَّ َمٓا أ ُ ْل ِق َى ِفي َها‬ ِ ‫َت َكا ُد َت َم َّي ُز ِم َن ْٱل َغي‬
ٌ‫َف ْو ۭ ٌج َسأ َ َل ُه ْم َخ َز َن ُت َهٓا أَ َل ْم َيأْ ِت ُك ْم َن ِذي ۭر‬
Takaadu tamayyazu minal ghaizi kullamaaa
ulqiya feehaa fawjun sa alahum
khazanatuhaaa alam yaatikum nazeer
8. It almost bursts with rage. Every time a
company is thrown into it, its keepers ask them,
“Did there not come to you a warner?”
۟ ُ‫َقال‬
‫وا َب َل ٰى َق ْد َجٓا َء َنا َن ِذي ۭ ٌر َف َك َّذ ْب َنا َوقُ ْل َنا‬
‫َما َن َّز َل ٱهَّلل ُ ِمن َشىْ ٍء إِنْ أَن ُت ْم إِاَّل ِفى‬
‫ير‬ٍۢ ‫ض َل ٰـ ۢ ٍل َك ِب‬
َ
 Qaaloo balaa qad jaaa’anaa nazeerun
fakazzabnaa wa qulnaa maa nazzalal laahu
min shai in in antum illaa fee dalaalin kabeer
9. They will say,” Yes, a warner had come to us,
but we denied and said, ‘ Allah has not sent
down anything. You are not but in great error.’ “

‫وا َل ْو ُك َّنا َنسْ َم ُع أَ ْو َنعْ ِق ُل َما ُك َّنا ِف ٓى‬

۟ ُ‫َو َقال‬
‫ير‬ ‫ع‬ِ ‫س‬
َّ ‫ٱل‬ ‫ب‬
ِ ‫ـ‬
ٰ ‫ح‬
َ ْ‫ص‬ َ‫أ‬
ِ
Wa qaaloo law kunnaa nasma’u awna’qilu
maa kunnaa feee as haabis sa’eer
10. And they will say, “If only we had been
listening or reasoning, we would not be among
the companions of the Blaze.”

ِ ‫وا ِب َذ ۢن ِب ِه ْم َفسُحْ ۭ ًقا أِّل َصْ َح ٰـ‬

‫ب‬ ۟ ُ‫َفٱعْ َت َرف‬
‫ير‬
ِ ‫ٱل َّس ِع‬
Fa’tarafoo bizambihim fasuhqal li as haabis
sa’eer
11. And they will admit their sin, so [it is]
alienation for the companions of the Blaze.
 ِ ‫ين َي ْخ َش ْو َن َر َّبهُم ِب ْٱل َغ ْي‬
‫ب َلهُم‬ َ ‫إِنَّ ٱلَّ ِذ‬
‫م َّْغ ِف َر ۭةٌ َوأَجْ ۭ ٌر َك ِبي ۭ ٌر‬
Innal lazeena yakhshawna rabbahum
bilghaibi lahum maghfiratunw wa ajrun
kabeer
12. Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen
will have forgiveness and great reward.
۟ ‫وا َق ْو َل ُك ْم أَ ِو ٱجْ َهر‬
‫ُوا ِب ِهۦٓ ۖ إِ َّنهُۥ‬ ۟ ُّ‫َوأَ ِسر‬
‫ور‬ِ ُ
‫د‬ ‫ص‬
ُّ ‫ٱل‬ ‫ت‬
ِ ‫ا‬ َ
‫ذ‬ ‫ب‬ ۢ
ِ ‫َعلِي‬
‫م‬
ٌ
Wa asirroo qawlakum awijharoo bihee
innahoo ‘aleemum bizaatis sudoor
13. And conceal your speech or publicize it;
indeed, He is Knowing of that within the
breasts.

‫أَاَل َيعْ َل ُم َمنْ َخ َل َق َوه َُو ٱللَّ ِطيفُ ْٱل َخ ِبي ُر‬
Alaa ya’lamu man khalaq wa huwal lateeful
khabeer
14. Does He who created not know, while He is
the Subtle, the Acquainted?

‫اًۭل‬ ‫و‬ُ ‫ل‬‫ذ‬َ ‫ض‬

َ ْ‫ر‬ َ ‫ه َُو ٱلَّ ِذى َج َع َل َل ُك ُم ٱأْل‬
ۖ ‫وا ِمن رِّ ْز ِق ِهۦ‬ ۟ ُ‫وا ِفى َم َنا ِك ِب َها َو ُكل‬ ۟ ‫ش‬
ُ ْ‫َفٱم‬
‫شو ُر‬ ُ ‫َوإِ َل ْي ِه ٱل ُّن‬
Huwal lazee ja’ala lakumul arda zaloolan
famshoo fee manaakibihaa wa kuloo mir
rizqihee wa ilaihin nushoor
15. It is He who made the earth tame for you –
so walk among its slopes and eat of His
provision – and to Him is the resurrection.

َ ‫َءأَ ِمن ُتم مَّن ِفى ٱل َّس َمٓا ِء أَن َي ْخ ِس‬

‫ف ِب ُك ُم‬
‫ض َفإِ َذا ِه َى َتمُو ُر‬ َ ْ‫ٱأْل َر‬
‘A-amintum man fissamaaa’i aiyakhsifa bi
kumul arda fa izaa hiya tamoor
16. Do you feel secure that He who [holds
authority] in the heaven would not cause the
 earth to swallow you and suddenly it would
sway?

‫أَ ْم أَ ِمن ُتم مَّن ِفى ٱل َّس َمٓا ِء أَن يُرْ ِس َل‬
‫ير‬
ِ ‫ذ‬ِ َ
‫ن‬ ‫ْف‬
َ ‫ي‬‫ك‬َ ‫ُون‬
َ ‫م‬ ‫ل‬َ ْ‫ع‬ َ
‫ت‬ ‫س‬
َ َ
‫ف‬ ۖ ‫ا‬ ً
‫ب‬ ۭ ‫اص‬
ِ ‫ح‬َ ‫م‬
ْ ُ
‫ك‬ ْ
‫ي‬ َ
‫ل‬ ‫َع‬
Am amintum man fissamaaa’i ai yursila
‘alaikum haasiban fasata’lamoona kaifa
nazeer
17. Or do you feel secure that He who [holds
authority] in the heaven would not send against
you a storm of stones? Then you would know
how [severe] was My warning.

َ ‫ْف َك‬
‫ان‬ َ ‫ين ِمن َق ْبلِ ِه ْم َف َكي‬ َ ‫َو َل َق ْد َك َّذ‬
َ ‫ب ٱلَّ ِذ‬
‫ير‬
ِ ‫ك‬
ِ َ
‫ن‬
Wa laqad kazzabal lazeena min qablihim
fakaifa kaana nakeer
18. And already had those before them denied,
and how [terrible] was My reproach.
 ٍ ۢ ‫ص ٰـٓ َّف ٰـ‬
‫ت‬ َ ْ ‫م‬ ‫ه‬
ُ َ
‫ق‬ ‫و‬ْ َ
‫ف‬ ‫ْر‬ ‫ي‬ َّ
‫ٱلط‬ ‫ى‬ َ
‫ل‬ ۟ ْ
ِ َ َ ْ َ‫أ‬
‫إ‬ ‫ا‬ ‫و‬ ‫ر‬ ‫ي‬ ‫م‬ َ
‫ل‬ ‫و‬َ
ِ
ۚ ُ‫َو َي ْق ِبضْ َن ۚ َما يُمْ ِس ُكهُنَّ إِاَّل ٱلرَّ حْ َم ٰـن‬
‫صي ٌر‬ ِ ‫إِ َّنهُۥ ِب ُك ِّل َشىْ ۭ ٍء َب‬
Awalam yaraw ilat tairi fawqahum
saaaffaatinw wa yaqbidna; maa
yumsikuhunna illaar rahmaan; innahoo
bikulli shai im baseer
19. Do they not see the birds above them with
wings outspread and [sometimes] folded in?
None holds them [aloft] except the Most
Merciful. Indeed He is, of all things, Seeing.

‫ص ُر ُكم‬ ُ ‫أَ َّمنْ َه ٰـ َذا ٱلَّ ِذى ه َُو جُن ۭ ٌد لَّ ُك ْم َين‬
َ ‫ون ٱلرَّ حْ َم ٰـ ِن ۚ إِ ِن ْٱل َك ٰـ ِفر‬
‫ُون إِاَّل‬ ِ ‫مِّن ُد‬
‫ُور‬
ٍ ‫ر‬ ُ
‫غ‬ ‫ِفى‬
Amman haazal lazee huwa jundul lakum
yansurukum min doonir rahmaan;
inilkaafiroona illaa fee ghuroor
20. Or who is it that could be an army for you to
 aid you other than the Most Merciful? The
disbelievers are not but in delusion.

‫أَ َّمنْ َه ٰـ َذا ٱلَّ ِذى َيرْ ُزقُ ُك ْم إِنْ أَمْ َس َك‬
‫ور‬ ُ ‫ف‬‫ن‬ُ ‫و‬
َ ‫و‬
ٍّ ۢ ُ
‫ت‬ ‫ع‬
ُ ‫ى‬ ‫ف‬
ِ ۟
‫وا‬ ُّ‫ج‬َّ ‫ل‬ ‫ل‬ ‫ب‬
َ ۚ ‫ُۥ‬ ‫ه‬ َ
‫ق‬ ْ
‫ز‬ ‫ِر‬
ٍ
Amman haazal lazee yarzuqukum in amsaka
rizqah; bal lajjoo fee ‘utuwwinw wa nufoor
21. Or who is it that could provide for you if He
withheld His provision? But they have persisted
in insolence and aversion.

‫أَ َف َمن َيمْ ِشى ُم ِك ًّبا َع َل ٰى َوجْ ِه ِهۦٓ أَهْ دَ ٰ ٓى‬

‫ص َٰ‌ر ۢطٍ ُّمسْ َت ِق ۢ ٍيم‬
ِ ‫أَمَّن َيمْ ِشى َس ِو ًّيا َع َل ٰى‬
Afamai yamshee mukibban ‘alaa wajhihee
ahdaaa ammany yamshee sawiyyan ‘alaa
siratim mustaqeem
22. Then is one who walks fallen on his face
better guided or one who walks erect on a
straight path?
‫قُ ْل ه َُو ٱلَّ ِذ ٓى أَن َشأ َ ُك ْم َو َج َع َل َل ُك ُم ٱل َّسمْ َع‬
َ ‫ْص ٰـ َر َوٱأْل َ ْفٔـِِٔدَ َة ۖ َقلِياًۭل مَّا َت ْش ُكر‬
‫ُون‬ َ ‫َوٱأْل َب‬
Qul huwal lazee ansha akum wa ja’ala
lakumus sam’a wal absaara wal af’idata
qaleelam maa tashkuroon
23. Say, “It is He who has produced you and
made for you hearing and vision and hearts;
little are you grateful.”

ِ ْ‫قُ ْل ه َُو ٱلَّ ِذى َذ َرأَ ُك ْم ِفى ٱأْل َر‬

‫ض َوإِ َل ْي ِه‬
َ ‫ُتحْ َشر‬
‫ُون‬
Qul huwal lazee zara akum fil ardi wa ilaihi
tuhsharoon
24. Say, ” It is He who has multiplied you
throughout the earth, and to Him you will be
gathered.”

‫ون َم َت ٰى َه ٰـ َذا ْٱل َوعْ ُد إِن ُكن ُت ْم‬

َ ُ‫َو َيقُول‬
‫ين‬ َ ‫ص ٰـ ِد ِق‬
َ
 Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal wa’du in
kuntum saadiqeen
25. And they say, “When is this promise, if you
should be truthful?”

‫قُ ْل إِ َّن َما ْٱل ِع ْل ُم ِعندَ ٱهَّلل ِ َوإِ َّن َمٓا أَ َن ۠ا َن ِذي ۭ ٌر‬
‫ين‬ٌ ۭ ‫م ُِّب‬
Qul innamal ‘ilmu ‘indallaahi wa innamaaa
ana nazeerum mubeen
26. Say, “The knowledge is only with Allah,
and I am only a clear warner.”
ْ ََٔ‫َف َلمَّا َرأَ ْوهُ ُز ْل َف ۭ ًة ِس ٓئـ‬
َ ‫ت وُ جُوهُ ٱلَّ ِذ‬
‫ين‬
‫ُوا َو ِقي َل َه ٰـ َذا ٱلَّ ِذى ُكن ُتم ِب ِهۦ‬ ۟ ‫َك َفر‬
‫ُون‬َ ‫َت َّدع‬
Falaammaa ra-awhu zulfatan seee’at
wujoohul lazeena kafaroo wa qeela haazal
lazee kuntum bihee tadda’oon
27. But when they see it approaching, the faces
of those who disbelieve will be distressed, and it
will be said, “This is that for which you used to
call.”

‫قُ ْل أَ َر َء ْي ُت ْم إِنْ أَهْ َل َك ِن َى ٱهَّلل ُ َو َمن َّم ِع َى‬

ْ‫ين ِمن‬َ ‫أَ ْو َر ِح َم َنا َف َمن ُي ِجي ُر ْٱل َك ٰـ ِف ِر‬
‫ب أَلِ ۢ ٍيم‬
ٍ ‫َع َذا‬
Qul ara’aytum in ahlaka niyal laahu wa mam
ma’iya aw rahimanaa famai-yujeerul
kaafireena min ‘azaabin aleem
28. Say, [O Muhammad], “Have you
considered: whether Allah should cause my
death and those with me or have mercy upon us,
who can protect the disbelievers from a painful
punishment?”

‫قُ ْل ه َُو ٱلرَّ حْ َم ٰـنُ َءا َم َّنا ِب ِهۦ َو َع َل ْي ِه‬

‫ض َل ٰـ ۢ ٍل‬
َ ‫ُون َمنْ ه َُو ِفى‬ َ ‫َت َو َّك ْل َنا ۖ َف َس َتعْ َلم‬
ٍ ۢ ‫م ُِّب‬
‫ين‬
Qul huwar rahmaanu aamannaa bihee wa
‘alaihi tawakkalnaa fasata’lamoona man
 huwa fee dalaalim mubeen
29. Say, “He is the Most Merciful; we have
believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied.
And you will [come to] know who it is that is in
clear error.”

‫قُ ْل أَ َر َء ْي ُت ْم إِنْ أَصْ َب َح َمٓاؤُ ُك ْم َغ ْو ۭ ًرا‬

‫ين‬ ‫ع‬ِ ‫م‬
َّ ‫ء‬ۢ ‫ٓا‬
ٍ َِ ‫م‬ ‫ب‬ ‫م‬ ُ
‫ك‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ت‬
ِ ْ ‫َف َمن َيأ‬
ٍۭ
Qul ara’aytum in asbaha maaa’ukum
ghawran famai yaateekum bimaaa’im
ma’een
30. Say, “Have you considered: if your water
was to become sunken [into the earth], then who
could bring you flowing water?”
