ENGAGE
Educators have maby options for integrating technology into the classroom. For example, it can be
used to convey information using a smartboard, laptop or computer to display notes or to complete
student assessment. In a Mathematics subject, using such technologies can allow students to
interact with mathematical objects like graphs, algebraic symbols, geometric objects and statistical
displays so that students can have first-hand experiences with these different mathematical
representations. Technology-enhanced instruction that incorporates visual elements can often help
the learners to better understand abstract concepts in subjects like Math.
2. What are the challenges that s/he encouters in the integration of technology?
The challenges that she encountered in the integration of technology are the lack of funds or
support from the school to provide technological tools/resources and the lack of time to have
training for learning new technologies. These problems hinder her to effectively boost her teaching
ability and develop an interactive classroom, making her unable to meet some of the expectations
from the learners or provide a good learning environment.
The changes that she observed while integrating technology in her instruction is that it enlivens learning
of her students where the engagement during discussions or activities were increased significantl,
resulting to interactive learning experiences. The technology empower teachers like her as it enhances
their instruction and improve learning processes/outcomes of students. Furthermore, it helped her to
form a better relationship with her and makes teaching easy to do.
EVALUATE
1. Of the different rationales in using computers in school, what do you think is the most
reasonable one?
For me, the rationale that is most reasonable in using computers in school is the pedagogical
rationale as it focuses on how computers can help learners to prepare for jobs. Computers will
enhance the learning experience of the students and equip them with future-ready skills that
they need to apply for jobs of the future. Skills like creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving
and collaboration necessary to succeed in a workplace and being a tech savvy will allow students
to develop and hone these important life skills.
2. How are the roles of teachers and learners in an ICT led classroom different from the traditional
classroom?
In an ICT-led classroom, technology empower teachers and students, transforming teaching snd
learning processes from being higly teacher-dominated to student-centered and that
transformation resulted in increased learning gains for students, creating opportunities for them
to develop their skills/abilities effectively. ICT enables the use of innovative educational
resources and effective learning methods, establishing a more active collaboration of students,
teachers snd the simultaneous acquisition of technological knowledge.
5. What factors wre deterrent in the maximum utilization of ICT in the teaching-learning process?
The educator’s use of ICT and subsequent integration of technology into their teaching and
learning is dependent on a number of factors. Such factors include teacher’s readiness,
confidence, knowledge and ability to evaluate the role of ICT in teaching/learning and the lack of
skills to be able to use the ICT equipment/tools. Other significant factors are funds , curriculum
planning, technical suppory and training which make some schools unable to fully and
effectively implement the ICT in the teaching- learning process.
6. How would you react to teachers who don’t want to learn anymore about technology because
they claim they are too old to do the task?
I will still respect their approach to teaching because I understand that learning how to adapt
and apply technological tools or devices in classrooms takes a considerable amount of time and
effort especially for those old teachers who really can’t learn technology any further. As long as
they have the passion to teach and create a holistic environment for their students, I will
support any methods of their instruction.
EXTEND
LEARNERS
Technology can enable personalized learning bot experiences that are engaging and relevant.
Technology can help organize learning around real-world challenges using a wide-variety of digital
learning devices and resources to show competency with complex concepts and content.
Technology can help learning more beyond the classroom and take advany of learning opportunities
available in museums, libraries and other out-of-school settings.
Technology access when equitable can help close the digital divide and make transformative learning
opportunities available to all learners.
TEACHERS
Educators can design highly engaging and relevant experiences through technology.
Provide access to an unlimited amount of current information and data from a variety of sources.
Technology can enhance the creativity of teachers in making his/her reports and discussions.
Technology allows teachers to save time, space and mental effort in doing their tasks.
