It is such a shame that in this time of pandemic the people who gave their blood
and sweat to save its countrymen are being neglected by the government. Filipino
Nurses are very in-demand in other countries because of passion and commitment in
taking care of the sick. This pandemic became a wake-up call to the government to see
our healthcare system today but unfortunately, after a year of fighting the invisible
enemy there is still no change. Our country only uses nurses for its own benefits but
give nothing back to the one who sacrificed. It is not shocking anymore to hear in the
news that despite of understaffed hospitals, nurses choose to leave and serve other
country because they pay them well. While here they will just give you recognition for
your job but doesn’t even give you a hazard pay or an increase to your salary.
Government should think that medal and certificate cannot feed the nurse’s family. It is
really sad to hear that even how hard the nurse’s work and how many lives they saved
they still cannot be seen and heard by the government. Why can’t our government be
like others? Why can’t they give nurses what they deserve? If this situation will keep on
going, there will be no nurses left in our country because nurses saves lives and nurses
takes care of the sick. In this time of pandemic, nurses are the protagonist because
they sacrifice their safety, they choose to leave their family to save a stranger and
lastly, they still keep on working long shifts so that they will get a high salary to feed
their family. Without nurses, we cannot survive this pandemic and as a future nurse I
am hoping that one day when it is my turn to work at the hospital I will have what I
deserved so that going to other country will never be my option.
