Science 4 - 4th QUARTER Week 3

The document is a learning packet for a 4th grade science class on weather and its elements. It includes the learning objectives, content standards, and 5 days of activities for students to identify weather elements, factors that affect weather, weather patterns, and the relationship between elements that define weather. The activities include identifying natural and man-made objects in the sky, whether factors affect weather, true/false statements about weather elements, discussing weather-based activities, and matching weather elements to situations. The packet is meant to help students observe, identify, and describe different types of local weather.

Science 4
Children have been experiencing weather their entire lives—whether
playing in the snow, chasing leaves in the wind, jumping in rain puddles,
or bundling up against the cold. Exploring weather with children and
building on their prior experiences helps them understand the different
kinds of weather phenomena they experience every day.
Weather is an important part of our lives on Earth. People often look
outside to see what the weather is before they begin their day.
Observing weather can give us clues that help us dress for the day, plan
activities, or prepare for a storm. In this media-rich lesson plan, children
will observe, identify, and describe different types of local weather. They
will investigate the four factors that describe weather state of sky,
temperature, wind, and precipitation as they engage with interactive
media and hands-on activities.
In this lesson, you will be able to:
 describe the concept of weather;
 enumerate the elements of weather; and
 describe the relationship of each element in defining weather.

__________ 3. Weather may be described as sunny, cloudy, rainy,
or stormy.
__________ 4. Weather elements are factors that affect the
weather conditions in a certain place at a given time.
__________ 5. The unequal heating of Sun to earth’s surface result
in varying air temperature.
__________ 6. An area where gas particles are spread out has
higher air pressure.
__________ 7. The air temperature does not affect the air pressure
in a certain place.
__________ 8. The difference in temperature and pressure in
different areas creates humidity.
__________ 9. Areas that are dry such as deserts usually have a
high humidity.
__________10. A weather pattern refers to the changes in the
weather condition in a specific area during a given period of time.

Science 4

Instruction: discuss among themselves the different activities
that people do in each weather pattern.

Materials: ● notebook
● pen

sentence correct.

1. Water that evaporates becomes water ____________ in the

atmosphere.
2. When clouds block almost all sunlight, the weather is described as
____________.
3. Air ____________ is the weight of gas particles that pushes down on
an area.
4. The atmosphere is the layer of ____________ that surrounds Earth.
5. Precipitation can be in the form of ____________.

10

Science 4
Activity 5
Instruction: Identify the weather element that is best presented in
the given situations. Write the answer on the blank.

________ 1. The air is moving fast and strong.

__________ 2. The air feels hot at noontime.

your hair sticky.
__________ 8. The water waves are higher than usual during a stormy
day.
__________ 9. The air in the desert is dry compared to the air in the

Science 4
Activity 5:

Instruction: Answer the following questions.

1. Suppose you noticed that the wind is blowing strong, the clouds are lower and
darker than usual, and you can hear thunderclaps. What kind of weather are you
expecting? What made you say so?

2. Why is it important to be familiar with the different weather elements? Cite a
