Program Outcomes : The minimum standards for the BSEd degree program are expressed in the following set of learning outcomes:

1. Common to all programs in all types of schools


The graduates have the ability to:
a. articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice; (PQF level 6 descriptor)
b. effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino;
c. work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams; (PQF level 6 descriptor)
d. act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibility; and
e. preserve and promote “Filipino historical and cultural heritage.” (based on RA 7722)

2. Common to the discipline (Teacher Education)

b. Demonstrate mastery of subject matter/discipline
c. Facilitate learning using a wide range of teaching methodologies and delivery modes appropriate to specific learners and their

Course Description : This course provides a survey of the categories and types of the world’s literature for children and adolescents with emphasis on criteria for
identifying and interpreting high quality fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. This develops student’s familiarity with a broad range of books for
children and adolescents and the implications of developmental characteristics for book selection. (EK-3)

Course Objectives : At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. define literary terms and concepts exemplified in selected literary texts;
2. trace the major literary works produced in child and adolescent literatures;
3. recognize the practical lessons of literary works toward values formation;
4. present a 5-minute talk with accompanying visual presentation and written component, about a selected author and his or her contribution to
and significance for child and adolescent literature;
5. write sample lesson plan using selected literary text in child and adolescent literature; and
6. perform a student teaching demonstration using selected literary text in child and adolescent literature.
