English For Global Communication 1
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This credit course is designed to develop and promote English for Global Communication skills to
meet the expectations of international society. Content presentation will emphasize speaking and
listening skills focusing on practical English.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The students will learn real world English communication through a variety of tasks and activities. At
the completion of the course you will be able to do the following in English: follow instructions,
understand and produce simple sentences, ask and answer questions about simple topics, make
introductions, ask for directions, describe objects and hold simple conversations.

Cengage Learning, 2016
ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
Teachers will provide handouts, audio/video materials and additional printed materials when required.
COURSE EXPECTANCIES
1. Students will be graded on attendance and should attend each scheduled class session and
participate actively in class. Students with more than 11 class hour absences will automatically
receive a score of F (Fail).
2. Students will be evaluated in each class based on their activities in pair or group work and the
achievement of the outlined communicative goals.
3. Students will be responsible for and evaluated on all assigned homework.
4. All students are required to complete the Midterm Aural Examination CBT and the Final Aural
Examination CBT to receive credit for this course. These examinations are similar to the Online
Listening Homework.
5. Students will be required to give a Final Presentation and attend a Final Oral Exam during the
last week of classes. The final presentation will be conducted during class time. The final oral exam
will be held between November 22nd and November 26th. More information will be given at a later
date.
6. The students' final evaluation will be a Total Point Score with an assigned Letter Grade, based on
the grading scale below.
