Q. 1 Determine the bending moment at support E in the continuous beam shown in figure
below. In addition to the given loadings, support C has the downward deflection of 6
mm. Take EI = 1 × 109 t mm2.

method. In addition to the given loading, support C has a downward settlement of 20

Q. 5 Explain the significance of shape factor in plastic analysis. A T-section beam with web 3+7
12cm × 3cm and flange 10cm × 4cm in area was constructed in Pokhara University. Show
that the shape factor is greater than one for that beam if the flange was provided at top
and kept horizontal.
