Output 13 Carbon Footprint A. My Carbon Footprint Result

The document discusses the results of a carbon footprint assessment for a household. It reports that the household emits 270.03 kg of CO2 per month, which would require planting 34 trees to offset. The author reflects that while their 11-person household follows guidelines to conserve energy, such as unplugging unused appliances, using fans instead of air conditioning, and proper trash segregation, they could contribute more by owning fewer appliances and reducing car rides. The author believes that reducing carbon emissions is a global effort that everyone should continuously work towards.

Carbon Footprint
A. My Carbon Footprint Result

Your household emits a total of kilogram(s) C02 per month270.03To capture that amount of
emissions, 34 tree(s) must be planted. Each tree can capture 8 kgs of CO2 annually.

B. Reflection on My Personal Carbon Footprint Result

Year in, year out, there has been a steadily increase of carbon emissions that has greatly altered
worldwide temperature and climate since they all remain trapped in the atmosphere. Personally, I think
that the gravity of the amount of carbon emissions coming from our household is just too large. Despite
residing in an eleven-person household, I think that we have acquired too many appliances at home.
Fortunately, my family follows guidelines in order to conserve energy. One of the main rules that
everyone follows is to unplug appliances and gadgets that are not being used for the time being. I think
this is a very important rule since it does not only prevent vampire energy but it also decreases the risk
for overheating which may result to fires. Another rule we are constantly practicing is the usage of
electric fan as an alternative to air conditioning. Despite having air conditions around the house, we
make it a point to turn them on at night. For the most part, we only use electric fans in the morning and
in the afternoon. Personally, I only seldomly use my air conditioning since I prefer the cold breeze that
night time provides. Moreover, we filter and store water in the refrigerator rather than having a water
dispenser at our home. Furthermore, our household practices segregation of trash by having designated
trash bins for biodegradable and non-biodegradable items. Before garbage pickup, we make sure that
our trash is properly segregated. Also, we have come accustomed with planting trees and plants
surrounding our house in order to provide ample sources of oxygen since we live in a heavily urbanized
area. It truly brings me joy to be residing in an area which permits tree planting since it provides a better
quality of oxygen around our residence. Lastly, we also prefer to bring recycled eco-friendly bags for
groceries as well as consuming local produce for our local vegetable market as locally produced fruits
and vegetables have less preservatives and are healthier for our bodies to consume. With that said, I
think that we could contribute more towards decreasing the carbon emissions being released in our
residence such as owning less appliances and reducing unnecessary car rides, yet the effort and initiative
to reduce the world's carbon footprint should be a global effort that each and everyone constantly
abides to.
