What are you doing to help Nature?

This year our school, “Edinburg Castle School” is taking part in the program “Let´s Save
Nature.”
This program is trying to help both animals and plants in our countryside, beaches and
mountains. Animals and plants are disappearing because we humans are not taking care of
them. We are throwing our rubbish in the sea, on the streets and in the country. The
animals are getting trapped in the plastic bags or getting ill because they eat plastic
wrappers. Plants are dying because we are throwing chemicals and rubbish in the forests.
Forest fires are also killing thousands of animals and plants.
Our school is now helping. We are collecting rubbish from the beaches in our city and
telling people not to throw anything on them. We are also collecting used batteries and
other dangerous materials. And you? What are you doing to help animals and plants?
Are you littering the beaches and the country or are you putting your rubbish in the
correct places? Please, help animals: don´t litter.

Why are animals and plants disappearing?

because humans do not take care of them, we are not being aware of our actions, and we are
polluting the ecosystems in which they inhabit.

Why are the animals getting ill?

Because they get trapped in the plastic bags or they get sick because they eat the plastic wrap
that humans throw into the sea.

Why are plants dying?

because we dump chemicals and garbage in forests, and forest fires caused by high
temperatures as a result of pollution, are also killing thousands of animals and plants.

What are forest fires doing in the nature?

They burn everything in their path, destroy ecosystems and leave many animals homeless.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HELP NATURE?

PROBLEM WHAT AM I DOING?

Waste of energy I am turning off the lights when I am not using it
I am taking advantage of natural light during the day, and I am not
leaving devices connected to the electrical current.
Waste of water. My family and I are reducing our daily water consumption and reusing
the water my mother uses when she does the laundry to clean the
yard.
Using plastic bags My mother uses reusable shopping bags and does not accept plastic
bags when they are offered to her.
Garbage contamination I am throwing garbage where it belongs and I am not using single-use
products.
Water contamination As a family we use natural soaps and cleaning products, and we are
avoiding using products with many containers.
Endangered animals as a family we respect protected areas and we are not polluting
natural resources and their habitat.
Air pollution We are not burning garbage and we use the bicycle to transport
ourselves.
