Office hours
Wed 9:10 AM – 10:00 AM (before class meetings below)
Class meetings
Online: Wed 10:10 AM – 11:50 PM
Aug 25 – Oct 6

Attendance
You are expected to attend all online and in-person class meetings. If you miss any of the meetings, you are
still responsible for studying the materials covered, do any assignment within the deadline given and find out
about the announcements made in your absence.
Attendance is considered as being present in the online and in-person meeting(s) (doesn’t include office hours)
and being an active learner in the course. Having an active presence online and in-person in the course is
important to the student to avoid getting behind and be able to keep up with the weekly/daily volume of
materials.
If you will miss a class, contact the instructor about it, beforehand preferably. A valid excuse for missing a
class should be accompanied with a note from hospital, court, etc.

Homework and other technology tools

We will use WeBWorK (log in via Blackboard) as homework platform.
A scientific calculator (with sin, cos, etc) is required for the course.
This syllabus, scores announcements, and other helpful information will be available through Blackboard at
www.cuny.edu. The site will be updated regularly so check it often.

Exams (tentative schedule)

There will be two tests and one final exam. The dates below are subjected to changes.
- Test 1 on Sept 1
- Test 2 on Sept 29
- Final exam on Oct 6
Please don’t make travel plans before the final unless there is a way to connect at your destination.

Tests and Exam will be composed of 2 or 3 parts: 1) taking it online and while taking the test/exam online
work on the problems on paper. 2) Submit the work you did on paper by scanning (there are phone apps for
that) using the provided link to submit your work. 3) For final exam only, there will be a follow up live
meeting with the instructor online to explain or answer about 1 or 2 problems of the exam.
Grading
Assessment of student mastery of the course material will be on the basis of the following:
Final Exam 30%
Tests 50%
Homework average 20%

Try your best to do well in all tests, exam and homework. They all count towards your grade.
To pass the course, student must achieve at least 60% class average and a minimum score of 55 on the
final exam.

MAKE-UP POLICY
Please be advised that I do NOT give make up
Make sure that you attend class (not just login and disappear) for all lectures, tests and exam.

Friendly reminders

• Keep your audio off/muted if you are not speaking to minimize background noise during
online sessions with instructor.
• If possible, turn your video on. Body language is a powerful part of communication!
• If you would like, you can raise your hand for questions or ask through the chat.

Please don’t be disruptive during online meetings. Make sure to mute your mic when you are not contributing
in the discussion. Use the time spent online to focus on the materials lectured and/or discussed and ask
questions pertaining the class.

CHEATING/PLAGIARISM POLICY
We will follow the policy as outlined in the Academic Policies and Procedures of the college.
Also check the note displayed in Blackboard before tests and exam.

Recording Synchronous Classes

Students who participate in this class with their camera on or use a profile image are agreeing to have their video or
image recorded solely for the purpose of creating a record for students enrolled in the class to refer to, including those
enrolled students who are unable to attend live. If you are unwilling to consent to have your profile or video image
recorded, be sure to keep your camera off and do not use a profile image. Likewise, students who un-mute during class and
participate orally are agreeing to have their voices recorded. If you are not willing to consent to have your voice recorded
during class, you will need to keep your mute button activated and communicate exclusively using the ‘chat’ feature, which
allows students to type questions and comments live.

Thank you in advance for all your hard work and energy this semester.
