The crane is no longer needed. The four chainbiocks remain and are used during alignment - Align the thruster (input shaft upper gearbox) and the main engine. Use wedges to adjust the welding gap between well and the heavy round upper stembox flange. An extra chain block can be used to rotate the thruster during alignment. Tack weld the top plate to the well to keep position after correct alignment. Sufficiently weld the webs of the stembox to the ships well, before removing the chainblocks. - Follow welding procedure acc. instruction W084842665 and drawing W084842629. It may be required to rotate the thruster to create working space, when cutting the overlength of the webs and welding these webs in the ship's well. Rotate the thruster Unit by hand using the locking device (drawing 3004797) mounted on one of the planetary gearboxes. Remove the fasteners and rotate the locking device using of a rod. ‘The rod must be placed in the radial holes in the flange. Attention: The hydro-motor on. the second planetary gearbox may not be plugged during rotation of the thruster - Mount skeg on propeller gearbox, see drawing W084842802. Use locking wire to lock bolts. ALWAYS PROVIDE FOR AN ADEQUATE EARTHING WHEN WELDING TO THE STEERABLE PART OF THE THRUSTER. PLACE THIS EARTHING AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE TO THE WELDING AREA, TO AVOID DAMAGE TO INTERNAL PARTS (CURRENT PASSING THROUGH BEARINGS, TOLERANCED FITS, ETC.) PROTECT THE SURROUNDINGS FROM SPATTERS WHEN WELDING OR FLAME. CUTTING , ESPECIALLY STAINLESS STEEL SURFACES. Commissioning checks: = Check the position (height) of the welded flange ace. to drawing W084841 121 / wo84842629, - Visual check of weld no. 1, see instruction 084842665. = Cheek the thruster for hoisting damage. = Check piping removed for installation on cleanness before reinstallation Installing shaftline For alignment follow instruction W084844266 "Alignment procedure for a shaftline with floating shaft’. Itis advised to make the final alignment with vessel afloat ‘After main engine and thruster are properly aligned, the intermediate drive shaft (in two pieces) can be placed on the pedestals, Do not forget to place the rubber-packing plate of bulkhead passage on the intermediate shaft, near V-rings. Other items of the bulkhead passage are split and can be mounted afterwards, Place spacer plate between couplings and use fitted bolts to connect the shafts. 20-04-04 W084843419.doc 8. Document title: | | WARTSILA MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS & ) STEERABLE THRUSTER 43 44 45 20-04-04 W084843419, doc Deen WwoReaaeis Loewe Fae 8/18 ‘All bearing houses on both shafts are provided with fixation rings, These split ype rings fixate the beatings in the bearing houses in axial direction. Therefore the bearings inside the bearing housings will remain in the correct position during alignment. The shafts are provided with one fixed bearing (bearing block no 1) and a number of expansion bearings {bearing block no's 2 and 3), see shaftline complete ace. to drawing W084842521. Bearings are final assembled according instruction WO84843454 at WPNL. Because itis advised to make the final alignment with vessel afloat, provisionally align and fixate the shaftline. Mount floating shaft after final alignment. Lub. oil & pitch system Diagram ace. to W084841889. These system are completely mounted on top of the thruster Unit Only the waterside of the coolers (OC1 and OC2) must be connected. Orifices Controlling the water flow are yard responsibilty (drawing W084841889 sh2). Connections on the thruster and there positions can be found on drawing W084842023. Description of lubrication and pitch system acc. to instruction DMTE000078. Position of valves Check the position of the valves in the hydraulic and lubrication system. On the drawings W084841898 and W084841889 is stated which valves should be open and which should be closed ‘Advisable is to mechanically lock valves SOV7-1 and 2 on tank steering system in open position to protect booster pump, part of hy. steering pump to protect pumps. As well as valves SOV10,13,14 of lube oil system. Filling and de-aerating lub. oil system IMPORTANT NOTE: ‘The lubrication oll system is fully separated from the hydraulic steering system and uses 2 different oil type. Capacity lubrication oil system: approx. 3200 ltr. Please be aware that the lubrication system and the gearing can only be guaranteed if the right oil type is used. Please ask for a confirmation if an other type of oil is used. - For recommended types of oll (ISO VG 150) see table 3000092 sheet 2 = Always use clean oll (max pollution 18/15 acc. ISO 4406) and make sure that all used filing material is cleaned before filing. It might be necessary to fill through a fluid fiter pump unit = Fillthe thruster unit with oil before launching = Make sure that all shut-off valves are opened or closed ace. to diagram W0B4841889 when filing the propeller gearbox. Open SOV8 when filling the lower gearbox (close after fling) ~The safest way to fil the thruster with lube oil is by filing the headertank, Tank is, provided with a plugged filing connection (BSP 1 1/2 inch), on the back - Make sure that the pressure during filing does not exceed 0,5 bar.
