The document summarizes a research paper by high school students on developing an anti-theft device. It analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of the paper, noting that while the idea addressed a community problem, the paper lacked organization and had limitations like a small sample size that affected the reliability of the results.

Theft remains as one of the increasing threats to our safety.
Researchers and experts
have noted how to prevent this incident and how to secure ourselves in case we are trapped in this situation. In the research paper my groupmates and I have written in our last year in High school entitled “Theft Detection and Alarm System” exhibited an innovation where thieves and intruders’ entry are being discouraged. While this research exemplifies the need of the citizens in Madrid on this Anti-theft device there are limitations related to its effectivity, reliability, and performance. The paper also lacks clarity on the conveyance of the evidence. The said paper was a quantitative research written solely as a final requirement. Although, it was just a requirement, it was written with relevance to the community problems. Vista, Montegrande, Lopio, Curayag and I have decided to make use of our knowledge in Arduino uno- a technological microprocessor that was programmed to function. A sensor was utilized to detect movement, while a light was used as prototype to signal if there are motion detected and this will consequently lead to the sound buzzer which will alarm the house owner. Our study aimed to test the Anti-theft device’s functionality and acceptability. Thus, we used a sample of 20 respondents. We collected their demographic information to identify where they belong in the category- house owners, security agents, and electronic experts. Using the statistical tool, it was found out that the 20 respondents accepted the idea and found the device we innovated effective. Even though, significant results were found out in the study even so it was evident that the writers are High School students who are out of time and in a lot of pressure. To begin with, the introduction was a little disorganized, and the thesis statements were weak. The paper could’ve emphasized previous crimes in the town regarding theft and intrusions so the readers will be explained well of the significance of the study since the idea of the theft detection device are already common. The end of the last paragraph should also hook the readers to a powerful stand instead it ended with “Also it can command to turning on the LED that symbolizes the light in houses and buildings.” Its purpose was to lead the readers what the study would be about and how the researchers came up with the study, yet it left the readers in a hanging conclusion without giving clear objectives. Moreover, the procedure of the component assembly was not explained clearly. It could have been more comprehensive if a diagram illustrating how it was assembled was used. Since words describing the process can only lead to confusion particularly those who wishes to specialize in this kind of research for the latter batches of students in the school. On the other hand, this type of study does not critic nor explain behaviors however it investigates the probability that the device will be accepted by the people The other mistake that I have acknowledged is the fact that there are only 20 respondents. Specifically, 10 house owners, 5 electronic experts and 5 security agents. The sample size cannot represent enough of the thousands of house owners in the municipality. This means that lesser the sample size, the higher the margin of error. Besides, purposive sampling was used which could have been better if non-biased sampling were used such as the cluster sampling. However, purposive sampling was still employed since there are only limited respondents to a certain category such as the electronic experts that other people cannot reach the criteria. But this was not stated in the delimitation of the study. Furthermore, the questionnaire was also accurate and non-biased. The presentation of the results was easily understandable. The tables were inclusive as well as the descriptions. The other deficiencies that was made in the study were stated in the recommendations. Few of the recommendations were: to use remote control to switch the system on and off as to when the homeowner come back home. And to add a more advanced program such as the use of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), for communicating the warning of the system through text when an intrusion happens. This reflected that we, the researchers were limited on the basic knowledge of programming and assembling. In addition, all the references were cited properly. Lastly, we reached our objectives which was to assess the functionality and acceptability of the Anti-theft device. Overall, the research paper was centered on a timely and important issue in general. It wasn't well-organized at first, but it has become more logical in the latter. It has important goals; however, it would have been better if the sample size had not been constrained, allowing for more accurate results. Future study can benefit from these findings by having a more defined and diversified sample size to offer compact evidence.
