How Would YOU Change The World For The Better?: Name: Class

This document is a persuasive speech arguing that children should be allowed to own their own mobile devices. It begins by acknowledging that many parents only see the negatives of technology and do not trust allowing their children access. However, the speech argues that there are positives if used correctly, such as keeping children safe through contact and GPS, teaching responsibility, and preparing them for an increasingly digital world. It concludes by stating that children can learn phone etiquette and that mobile devices can increase reading skills when used as an educational tool.

ESL 7B1 - Persuasive Writing

How would YOU change the world for the

better?

Your assignment is to write a speech in which you persuade the audience of

your ideas to change the world for the better. It can be about any subject that
you would like to discuss, so long as it answers the above question and justifies
your answer (it needs to argue why your idea is a good idea). It must also have
an interesting TONE, use each of the AFOREST techniques, use of ethos,
pathos and logos and must follow a speech format.

Speech Title: Should children own their own mobile device?

Persuasive Speech - How would you change the world for the better?

I chose this topic because I wanted to change parents' thinking about

how harmful electronics are to their children. So how do parents think about

technology? For the most part, parents believe they should be frequently

monitoring what their children are doing on their devices. Among

respondents, 38 percent said they always monitor their children, while

another 35.3 percent at least check on their kids very often. Though 74.1

percent of parents say they police their children equally, 59.4 percent believe

there is a double standard between boys and girls. Now parents always control

their child about what they are watching and playing on their mobile device.

Some parents think in the negative way and are so cynical about their pawns,

they sometimes think that their children are hiding them from the bad things

they do or even low test scores. Through the above things,Parents do not trust

their children and they must always be monitored and supervised. to make

sure their children don't see age-inappropriate things.

For my opinion : Instead of thinking in negative situations such as :

Your child hides you from using mobile devices for personal purposes or

using electronic devices can affect your children's learning and scores but

that's only the negative side of the problem. However, some parents only look

at the negative side of the problem to decide whether to let their children use

it or not. Instead of just looking at one side, parents try to balance their own

perspectives, looking at the positive in all matters related to their children, for

example in the first case I listed above is Your kids are avoiding you for

personal use of electronic devices, unfortunately it's the parent's fault to over-

expect their kids or they forbid their kids over many things. make their

children feel isolated on social media. The second problem is that electronics

can affect learning and grades, here it is "possible" only. What if your child

completely uses electronic devices for learning purposes?

So why should children have their own mobile devices?

When your child has a phone, parents can easily get in touch with them in

case of an emergency. This extra sense of security and safety is probably the

only reason that parents should even consider getting a younger child a cell

phone. In the case of a real tragedy, like a school shooting (happen in Europe

only), a cell phone can be a parent's only lifeline to your kids. a cell phone can

also be an important way to keep in touch with an older teen, especially if they

are driving. A phone with GPS tracking can help parents know where your

teen is at all times. A cell phone can teach child responsibility. Since he or she

has to learn to care for it, by keeping it charged and in working condition,

according to Kids Health. You can also use the phone as a tool to teach

children financial responsibility. Students are inherently more comfortable

with their cell phones than with outdated textbooks, which increases reading

and comprehension skills. Not only can students navigate their cell phones

easier than other teaching materials, they're also more likely to use their cell

phones for research and reading purposes. Information and Communication

Technology (ICT) is now a normal part of modern life, used by everyone from

toddlers to pensioners. children need to grow up making use of technology

such as mobile phones if they are to take their place in society. Such use fits

them for the modern workplace with its need for tech-savvy employees with

communication skills and the ability to work flexibly. In any case, children

often have better phone manners than adults , they are less likely to shout into

the phone, more likely to text discreetly, and more aware of text and phone

etiquette.
