GW Board and or NVRAM Replacement - @remote Issues

1. The document provides guidance on replacing gateway controller boards and NVRAM on devices where remote connectivity is activated, for both appliance-based and embedded configurations. 2. It describes various replacement scenarios and the required procedures to restore device settings and certificates. For appliance-based devices, common certificates need to be restored, while individual certificates must be restored for embedded devices using a rescue mode. 3. Procedures include reprogramming identifiers, changing function flags, and in some cases removing and reinstalling devices from the management system. Backup of NVRAM data before replacement can prevent data loss in some scenarios.

When you receive Authkey Change Call, the embedded RC Gate device should be;
- Displaying "@Remote Certificate Updating" on the operation panel, and
- SP5816-089 shows "RESCUE______".
Sample E-mail

In this case, you need to restore the original individual certificate from the center GUI.

To restore the original certificate,

1. Open the Authkey Change Call in the Call List menu of the center GUI.
2. Execute the Authkey Change Call.
By doing the above procedure, the Gateway will issue the original certificate
(individual certificate based on the device ID2), and send it to the Embedded RC Gate
device. This will overwrite the certificate.

To recover this failure …..

To restore the original certificate (= ID2 A) in the Device A,
1. Remove the Device/Appliance from the center GUI.
2. Perform Installation Clear by SP5816-209.
3. Initializing the certificate by SP5870-003 (to delete the wrong certificate).
4. Rewriting the certification by SP5870-001 (to retrieve the common certification).
5. Power Off/On.
6. Provide a dummy RC Gate and install it at the Customer A.
7. Program the original ID2 from the center GUI by using a dummy RC Gate.
Refer to the center GUI operation manual for how to restore the ID2.
8. Confirm that the original ID2 is restored in SP5811-003, and the common certificate is written in
SP5816-089.
9. Re-install the device as an embedded RC Gate again.
10. Confirm that the device A is successfully installed, and original individual certificate (in case of the
example, A12______34567890) is retrieved.

6. Known Failure
Error Case: A

Possible reason why used GW board had been installed in the Device A …..
Reported case in Japan domestic field,
As one of accidental case, GW board B was a brand-new board, but when it
was installed in device B for repair, technician noticed that the cause of the
failure was not GW board, so he returned the GW board back to their parts shelf.
Then other technician brought this board B to Customer A (thinking that board B
was a brand new board).

So, if you have to remove a GW controller board after you have installed it in an
embedded RC Gate device, in order to return the board to its “brand new”
condition, perform certificate initialization (SP5870-003) before you remove
the board.
