Lesson Plan in Teaching English 2

Program Standard
The learner demonstrates communicative competence through his/ her
understanding of literature and other texts types for a deeper appreciation of Philippine
Culture and those of other countries. 
Content Standard 
The learner demonstrates understanding of how world literature and other text
types serve as sources of wisdom in expressing and resolving conflicts among
individuals, groups and nature; also how to use evaluative reading, listening and
viewing strategies, special speeches for occasion, pronouns and structures of
modification. 
Learning Competency
Expand ideas in recognizing action words in a story.
(EN2G- IIIg – 3.1)

I. OBJECTIVES
                 At the end of 60-minute class, 75% of the students are expected to:
A. Identify and define what action word is
B. Recognize the importance of action word in a story;
C. Create an outcome that depicts their knowledge about action word.

B. Motivation
Guess me: Students will be given a picture for them to guess what action
word present in it. Before they will guess, learners will read first the story.
“A Day in the Park”.
It is Sunday in the morning. The sun is shining in the sky. Few birds are flying. The frog is
hopping near the pond. The ducks are swimming on the pond. A squirrel is climbing the tree. The
other one is eating peanut. Jack is jogging, grandpa is walking. Grandma is sitting on a bench, she
is reading a book. The little baby is crying. Tina is swinging on a swing. Pat is sliding in the slide.
Tim is playing with his cat. Jack is throwing a ball. Emma is catching it. Oh! Toby is holding the
ball now. Emma is running after toby. Toby is pulling Emma's dress. Now is the time to go home
and have lunch.
  C. Presentation of the Lesson
The teacher presents the topic related to the motivation by asking the
students.
D. Lesson Proper
1. Discussion of Verb – Action word
Action words or verbs are words that express or show actions.
2. Follow-up Activity
The teacher will take a video of herself while reading the short story
(A trip to the Zoo), then the learners will listen and write down in the paper the action
words used in a short story.
E. Generalization
Action words or verbs are words that express or show actions.
Examples of action word used in our lesson are eat, run, jump, read, etc.
F. Values Integration
Appreciate the importance of action words in a story.

IV. EVALUATION
The teacher will present 5 sentences; learners will identify the action word used
in the sentence.
1. Sheina runs fast.
2. I eat a lot of fruits to stay healthy.
3. Zessa sleeps early last night.
4. Joy reads different books during her free time.
5. Aldrich plays guitar.
V. ASSIGNMENT
Learners will be grouped into 3 groups. Each group will create a video
presentation that shows their understanding of the lesson. First group will do a simple
act or drama, second group will do a poster and explain their work, and lastly the third
group will create a jingle or cheer. Learners will be given 1 week to finish the activity.
