PRESCRIBED WORKS
"Freedom gets confused with liberty (which means we are not oppressed). Freedom is not doing
your own thing, but just the opposite. It means we are the authors of our own experience. It means
we are accountable for the wellbeing of all that is around us. It means we believe that we are
constituting, or creating, the world in which we live" – Peter Block

4. VIERDE GENRE
skryftake moet hierdie samehang ondersoek.
(b) Kies 'n groep liedjies van 'n Afrikaanse liedjieskrywer/sanger van
verskillende albums. Kyk hoe die liedjieskrywer/sanger 'n tema of
aanvanklike werk in Nederlands, is sy later liedjies Afrikaans.
regisseur stel.
Kies 'n roman uit 'n spesifieke subgenre (bv. liefdesromans, misdaadroman,
geestelike romans, wetenskapfiksie, ens.).

At least two films from the following list must be studied for purposes of comparison.
“With the approval of the IEB, and provided that the films allow for suitably rigorous analysis,
films from the list may be substituted with films of the teacher’s choice.”
Schools must study any two films, focusing on the following outcomes:
• Learners will be able to explain the role that cinematographic techniques (visual, audio,
and audio-visual) such as the use of colour, subtitle, composition, dialogue, music,
sound, lighting, editing, framing, styles of shot, camera techniques, camera movement,
foregrounding, and backgrounding, play in meaning-making.
• Learners will be able to summarise the film's stance on a particular theme or topic, and
explain how this is conveyed to the audience, as well as how the audience is positioned
in relation to the theme.
• Learners will be able to compare and contrast their own perspectives on the theme or
topic with those presented in the films.
• Learners will be able to analyse and evaluate both the messages and themes in the films,
and the design and performance choices made in conveying those messages and themes.
The assessment task(s) must assess all of these outcomes, and the total length of the
required response should be between 1000 and 1200 words.

VOORGESKREWE WERKE
ROMANS
DRAMAS
ROLPRENTE
Roepman
Sink
Noem my skollie
Ballade van 'n Enkeling
Die Wonderwerker
Die Verraaiers
Faan se trein
Abraham
Twee grade van moord
Dis ek, Anna
Paljas
J. Kannemeyer: Die Afrikaanse Letterkunde, 1652–2004
tydperke gebruik as motivering.
