An example analogy for


HIS is a fire alarm. We have fire alarms in the school, home, and work because it is essential if some
threats happen. This analogy is a perfect example of what the Health Information System is because
the medical people don’t want to use it: but it’s just there for essential documents just in case. It is
used for data collection, analysis, and communication.

A very well-kept medical data will help health management to continue health care and access the
information if needed. Only authorized people are allowed to see the stored data for the privacy of
personal information. The relevancy of these health records is for the patient and future uses also. It
is greatly influenced by the productivity and quality of health care. Health Information System is there
to use if it’s needed.

Health Information System is essential for providing, storing and analyzing medical data. We would
compare health information system to a fire alarm because in HIS, we have information that are
stored and are used when critically needed. Just like a fire alarm, we use it whenever we really need
to or when we are in danger. HIS is very important because it is needed in health care facilities
because it contains information that are confidential and undisclosed, just like how fire alarms are
important in every building or facility.

In Health Information System, we should not put incorrect reports because it may cause serious
problems or harmful treatment decisions in your place of work. Not only people can be affected by
these false informations and incorrect reports, but also the health facility that is responsible for
storing that data. Similar to a fire alarm, if you accidentally or intentionally pressed it without a
reason, it can cause panic to the people who heard it and may think that they are in danger. Both of
these are important because they bring benefit in every aspect that they are needed.

A health information system (HIS) is designed to manage the data collected


and stored in a healthcare facility. This includes physician practices, private
and public clinics, as well as hospitals. These facilities collect, store, manage,
and send patients’ electronic medical records. The HIS are available to and
accessed by healthcare professionals. These include those who deal directly
with patients, clinicians, and public health officials. Healthcare professionals
collect data and compile it to make health care decisions for individual
patients, client groups, and the general public.
