Ondel – ondel are large puppets. They are the icons of Jakarta. Ondel-ondel
usually appear in pairs, male and female. Both male and female ondel-ondel are
big. They are 80 centimeters in diameters and 2.5 meters tall.
Ondel-ondel puppets are made of bamboo and wood. The bodies are made of
bamboo and the head are made of wood. The face of a male ondel-ondel is red,
but the face of a female ondel-ondel is white . the female ondel-ondel always
wears a headdress known as kembang kelape or coconut flowers.
A group of musicians always accompanies an ondel-ondel show. They play
tanjidor or gambang kromong.

Tanjidor
Do you know about tanjidor? Tanjidor is a traditional Betawi musical performance.
It is often called tanjidor orchestra because their performance is played by a group
of people with their musical instrument. The musical instrument are trumpet, bass,
clarinet, cymbal, piston, trombone, and drum. The musician play songs beautifully.
We can see tanjidor orchestra in Betawi ceremonies, such as wedding ceremonies
and sunatan ceremonies.
