Week 3 Reflection

This week the student reflected on ethical considerations in healthcare and organizational ethics. They discovered that nursing staff often face ethical issues that arise from healthcare delivery and systems. The student developed an understanding of ethical behavior in their healthcare organization and the importance of interacting with ethics specialists. They also learned about how healthcare services are delivered through clinical systems and the various components that make up the US healthcare industry, including insurers that help provide treatment to those who cannot afford it.

Week 3 Reflection

Question: This reflection journal also allows students to outline what they have

discovered about their professional practice, personal strengths and weaknesses, and

additional resources that could be introduced in a given situation to influence optimal

outcomes. Each week students should also explain how they met a course competency or

course objectives.

This week required me to submit several peer reviewed articles which I had earlier

researched. After submitting and reviewing the results of my PICOT statement paper, I spent

some time reflecting on ethical considerations in the healthcare field as nurses always face

ethical challenges in providing care to patients, as well as, healthcare delivery and clinical

systems. I found out that majority of the time, nursing staff suffer because of the ethical

issues that come with healthcare delivery. Morally acceptable problems might arise in any

medical system when issues of morality about what is right and wrong are raised.

I was able to develop a deep understanding of ethical behavior in the healthcare

organization where I worked as a nurse. Organizational ethics may be characterized as the

extent an institution handles moral dilemmas that lead to ethical issues. Nursing ethics may

be maintained by interacting with moral specialists on a regular basis since these

professionals perform a critical responsibility in the development of codes of conduct and

ethical principles that include a variety of rules and suggestions for dealing with moral

considerations (Rao, 2020).

I also decided to think about how medical services are delivered and how the clinical

system works. I learnt that people could only experience healthier lifestyle if they have access

to high-quality, well-coordinated health systems (Pina et. al., 2015). Physicians, nurses,

clinicians, healthcare facilities, health insurers, and hospital workers make up the health care

industry in the United States of America. Additionally, health insurers are critical

components of medical practices since they make sure people who cannot or will not pay for

different health expenditures access appropriate treatment.
