The research area chosen for the review of quantitative research is impact of leadership on job
satisfaction. Various quantitative studies have been done in this area including various factors such
as impact of leadership style on job satisfaction, impact of leadership on job satisfaction in public
sector jobs etc. Three research papers have been chosen for this study. Different statistical tests
were used in these researches.
The first research paper is written by Saleem (2015). In this paper the author investigated if
perceived organizational politics plays a role in facilitating work satisfaction with special reference to
the impact of leadership styles. A descriptive research design was adopted in this study, and a
quantitative study was undertaken. The findings of this research revealed that transformational
leadership has a favorable effect on job satisfaction while transactional leadership has a negative
effect. The researcher used questionnaire to collect data. For the analysis, statistical tools such as
Cronbach Alpha reliability analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used.
In the second research paper chosen for review is written by Alonderiene and Majauskaite (2015).
They studied the impact of leadership style on job satisfaction of faculty in higher education
institutions. They undertook an empirical research and used descriptive statistical techniques for the
analysis of data. These included mean, standard deviation, Cronbach alpha and correlation analysis.
The third research paper is by Long et al. (2014). The researchers used a structured questionnaire to
collect primary data to know about the impact of transformational leadership style on the job
satisfaction. They used Statistical Package for Social Sciences Version 18 (SPSS 18). They analysed
data through descriptive statistics, multiple regression analysis and Pearson correlation analysis.
• E.g. the purpose of regression analysis is to estimate the relationship between a dependent
(outcome) variable and one or more independent (predictor) variables…. – provide citations.
• If there are different types (e.g. logistic regression, stepwise, hierarchical) mention them and
How did the authors test that the assumptions of the test were met?
