The document provides instructions for writing a process paragraph and preparing an oral presentation. It outlines the following: 1) When writing a process paragraph, use imperative verbs and the present simple tense to describe the steps in chronological order using linking words. 2) Students must choose between two topics and write a 120-140 word paragraph following the specified structure of a topic sentence, supporting sentences using imperatives, and a concluding sentence. 3) An oral presentation of 2-3 minutes without slides is assigned for the following week on a specific topic from the choices of cinema, judging by appearance, education, or homes. Rules to remember:
Firstly, let’s discuss how to write a paragraph describing a process.
You will have to choose between two topics:
1) How to overcome insomnia
2) How to learn a foreign language
You will choose one of them and write just one paragraph of 120-140 words!

Structure of the paragraph: topic sentence (it is the first sentence of the paragraph), which
introduces the topic for discussion, then several supporting sentences which explain and describe the
topic sentence, and the last sentence is a concluding sentence. You must use linking words (firstly,
secondly, after that, in addition, finally and so on) to put supporting sentences in a chronological and
logical order. You must use imperatives. Keep to these rules, if not – you will lose your points.
Study materials and do exercises from the pdf file uploaded on Moodle week 6 session 1:
“Academic Writing -Process Writing”. You will see the samples on Moodle week 6. Good luck!

Secondly, a few words about presentation 1, which is planned for the next week (next Friday and
Saturday session 2). You are going to make 2 or 3-minute presentation without slides and Power
Point. Topics are cinema, judging by appearance, education, homes and houses. Let’s choose
something specific (not too general) based on these topics we have covered (Files 6-7). You will
make oral presentation on Zoom or if you can’t join Zoom meeting, you will record a video of your
oral presentation (2-3 minutes) and send to my email: rusudan.birkaia@iliauni.edu.ge and it will be
placed on Google drive for me to see and evaluate. You can watch the similar sample video on this

Please, remember that you must make oral presentation, no reading or even quick reading is
allowed, if so, your presentation will not be evaluated. Deadline for sending me presentation videos
is May 2, 23:59 PM. Thank you very much.
