1. What do photos have in common?


It’s all about the functions of management, decision making, determining courses of action,
coordinating activities and resources, managing and motivating the people and lastly is
monitoring and evaluate activities.

2. What do you think will happen if people are not capable of managing every aspect of their
lives?
We cannot manage every aspect; life is not an easy phenomenon. We are tied up from all sides
and angles. Our limited free will against this probabilistic world further narrows down
probability of ubiquitous success.
Lesson1, Application
1. What is YOUR definition of management? Make a brief explanation of your definition.
Management defines the deployment and manipulation of human resources, financial
resources, technological resources, and natural resources. Management means directing
and controlling a group of people or an organization to reach a goal.

2. How does a mother apply the different functions of managements in daily situation? Can
you safely say that your mother is a good manager? Defend your answer.
Well a good manager has the qualities of proper planning, leading, organizing and
controlling. A mother exhibits all these virtues in her day to day responsibilities and
manages everything in her day to day life without any expectations or rewards.

3. How do you apply management in your daily life? Write a short explanation.
First is don’t overthink it, remember to enjoy little things in life, educate yourself in
whatever it is you are doing and lastly is put God in your heart so that everything will be
okay.

1. What do you think are the factors that contributed significantly to the evolution of
cellular phones?
Early cell phones were just for talking. Gradually, features like voicemail were added,
but then main purpose was talk. In recent years, the purpose of the cell phone has
shifted from verbal communication tool to a multimedia tool, often adopting the name
“mobile device” rather than being called a phone at all. We now use our cell phones
more for surfing the web, checking email, snapping photos, and updating our social
media status than actually placing calls.

2. Will it pose a challenge if we settled using the oldest model of cellular phone and did
not pursue the improvement of this gadget? Justify your answer.
Yes, because nowadays it is difficult to use old gadget models. Now there are things that
you have to finish immediately if we use the old model gadget it will be difficult.
Lesson2, Question
1. How was management applied during the construction of the Great Pyramids?
Discuss briefly.
Such a significant project like that would have seen the pharaohs of that period,
unknowingly draw on the basic principles of project management. Egyptian
pyramids which have their place in history as one of the most popular, mind-
blowing man-made wonders of the world.

2. If you are to choose from among the theories in management, what particular
theory or combination of theories will you apply in constructing the Great
Pyramids? Defend your answer.
There are many theories about how the Great Pyramid in Egypt was constructed,
ranging from UFOs to elaborated ramps. Several theories attempt to explain how
pyramids were constructed, but for now the mystery has yet to be solved.

1. From list you created, choose two qualities of a bad manager and think of its
possible impacts towards one’s subordinates and the organization.
2. What do you think is the single most important role of a manager? Defend your
answer.
Role of a manager is to ensure the daily functioning of a department or group of
employees. Staffing: Most employers expect their managers to interview, hire,
and train new employees. Set Goals: A manager articulates company’s longevity.

1. Evaluate yourself and determine the skills of a manager that you also possess. Provide a brief
explanation for each skill you identify.
Communication and motivation effective leader must all forms of communication including
written, verbal and listening skills. As a team manager you’re the line of communication
between frontline staff and senior management.

2. What particular skill/s should you hone to become an effective manager someday? Explain.
Leadership you can show leadership by using interpersonal skills to coach and develop others.
Additionally, you can use emphatic skills to motivate, organize, prioritize and delegate tasks.

and controlling. What do you think are the implications if one or more functions are lacking?
Planning: Managers use logic and methods to think through goals and actions.
Organizing: Manager arrange and allocate work, authority, and resources to achieve
organizational goals.
Controlling: Managers make sure an organizational is moving towards organizational objectives.

If the implications if one or more functions are lacking the resources cannot achieve goals
efficiently and effectively.

2. Contrast the three major approaches within the classical viewpoint: bureaucratic, scientific,
and administrative management. Give some examples of how these approaches are reflected
in an organization with which you are familiar.
Bureaucratic has taken on negative connotations. Your school is probably structuring as a
bureaucracy. If you have shopped at a department store, it is a bureaucracy, and your city
government is also a bureaucracy.
Scientific approach uses in places where the work could be quantified, systemized, and
standardized, such as in factories. In scientific management, there is one right way to do a task;
workers were not encouraged to make decisions or evaluate actions that might produce a better
result.
Administrative management it deals primarily with formal organization structure. The theory
assumes that there are certain fundamental principles on the basis of which an organization can
be established to achieve a specific objective.

3. Is the President of a country a manager? Discuss how such a person is or is not a manager.
Yes, and just like a company CEO, they all have different management styles. Some are vey
hands-on and the prefer to delegate.
