the environment.
Humans impact the physical environment in many ways, it is dramatically impacting our world. these
have triggered climate change, soil erosion, poor air quality, and undrinkable water. Air Pollution, the majority
of air pollution is the result of human activities. For example, increased fossil fuel combustion from motor
vehicles, industrial factories and power plants, all pump large quantities of air pollutants, such as carbon
monoxide, ozone, and nitrous oxides, into the atmosphere. Deforestation, with millions of different species that
live in forests, deforestation is a major threat to their survival and a big conservation issue. It also increases
greenhouse gases within the atmosphere which leads to further global warming. Overpopulation, As the human
population keeps on enlarging, there is a lot of pressure on the utilization of natural resources. This often causes
over-exploitation of the natural resources and contributes to environmental erosion. Plastics, it could take up to
100 years for your plastic bags to breakdown, as they're not biodegradable. Also, an estimated100,000 animals
die every year from plastic bag consumption. These are just some of the human activities that is causing climate
change and global warming. There are several simple things that people can do on a daily basis to minimize their
impact on the environment. Let’s help and save our environment.
Integrate and assess how effective the national government’s efforts are in protecting our environment from
over exploitation which is caused by man’s greed.
Over-exploitation is the unsustainable use of natural resources, which occurs when harvesting exceeds
reproduction of wild plant and animal species, and it is continuously a major threat to biodiversity. These are
some national government’s effort in protecting our environment:
DENR targets promoting responsible wildlife tourism nationwide. This year, DENR’s Biodiversity Management
Bureau (BMB) continued refining proposed guidelines aimed at protecting marine wildlife from tourism’s adverse
impacts like habitat destruction.
DAI took a holistic approach that included supporting ecologically sustainable fisheries and income-generating
options for local communities, education and awareness campaigns, increased biodiversity research opportunities,
and strong enforcement of environmental laws. Protect Wildlife promoted solutions grounded in the context of
each community considering which species are threatened, how populations are affected, and the capacity of local
police and governments to provide sustainable livelihood alternatives and promote lasting behavior change.
The national government is aiming to closed establishment which did not comply the environmental laws. They
declared closure on all illegal mining which operates in the mountains. They give warning and even give penalties
to those who violates the environmental law.’
The Protect Wildlife Project was launched in 2016 in collaboration with Conservation International, USAID, and
other partners to combat the threats to wildlife and the causes of biodiversity loss in the Philippines while taking
into consideration environmental threats such as habitat loss, unsustainable harvesting, and pollution.
